(Minghui.org) Four plainclothes officers in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province knocked on Ms. Wu Guiying’s door at 7 a.m. on March 22, 2023. They barged in after deceiving her into opening the door by claiming to deliver a package. One officer began to search her home without showing any paperwork, another one videotaped the raid and the remaining two restrained Ms. Wu to prevent her from walking around.
After the raid, an officer sat down and filled out a blank search warrant.
Ms. Wu said to the police that no law criminalizes Falun Gong in China and that they broke the law themselves by targeting her for practicing Falun Gong, which has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999. Ms. Wu’s husband called the emergency number, but the operator refused to transfer his call to the police for help.
When officer Zhang Jing called his supervisor about the situation, Ms. Wu shouted toward the phone, “The police are violating the law!”
Zhang searched almost every corner of Ms. Wu’s home. He took away nearly ten Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, a calendar and a wireless mouse. The search lasted about two hours. Before leaving, the police threatened Ms. Wu not to go out to distribute Falun Gong materials. He said that another practitioner who had just been released from prison was arrested again for distributing materials and has been sentenced to five years.
This is the second time that the police have raided Ms. Wu’s home. The first time was on September 17, 2020, when the police confiscated over 40 Falun Gong books. They played a surveillance video clip, claiming that Ms. Wu was shown distributing Falun Gong materials. However, the video was so blurry that one couldn’t make out what she was doing. She was interrogated at the police station for a day and released around midnight.
