(Minghui.org) May 21, 2023, was World Meditation Day. Falun Dafa practitioners were invited to the Paklihawa campus of the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS) in Nepal to hold a Falun Dafa introduction session on May 20. Many students said they were very happy to have the opportunity to learn about Falun Dafa. Nepal, located along the southern slopes of the Himalayan mountain range, is a landlocked country surrounded by India to the east, south, and west and the Tibet Autonomous Region of China to the north.

Undergraduate student Prabin Puri said he learned about Falun Dafa four years ago through a Facebook ad, which then motivated him to watch Master Li's lectures. He now volunteers his time to share the practice of Falun Dafa with the 30 million people in their country.

Puri conducted small introductory sessions for fellow classmates at his university and an online webinar for college juniors, but a phone call from the president of Amnesty International Paklihawa Youth Network on May 6 gave him an opportunity to introduce the practice to a bigger group.

The president said he saw information about Falun Dafa on social media. He contacted Puri and asked him to conduct an introductory session at his university, the Paklihawa campus of the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IAAS), on Saturday, May 20, in honor of World Meditation Day.

Puri put together a PowerPoint presentation introducing Falun Dafa, its amazing health benefits, and the ongoing persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in China for 24 years. After the presentation, the practice’s five exercises were demonstrated and all the participants joined in the exercises, with 35 students participating in the program.

Participants mentioned that they were delighted to discover a new kind of exercise and meditation practice and felt blessed on World Meditation Day. All were given flyers about Falun Dafa and many of them were surprised that everything was completely voluntary and free of charge.

Since the students were part of Amnesty International, they expressed shock at what was happening to Falun Dafa practitioners in China and wanted to know more about the persecution of practitioners. Interested participants were given the link to the Change.org petition to the UN and other NGOs to stop the persecution.

Many students were thrilled at the introductory session. On a social media post about the event, they immediately posted comments ranging from “Thank you” to “A great practice” and “#Together for Human Rights.”

The president of the Amnesty International Paklihawa Youth Network mentioned that he felt Falun Dafa is a great practice and asked about follow-up sessions. He also requested similar programs be conducted in his hometown.

Inspired by the success and response at the Amnesty International Paklihawa Youth Network, Puri suggested conducting the introductory seminar on Falun Dafa through the Nepal Veterinary Students’ Association (NVSA) of Rampur, as he is the Research and Extension Committee coordinator there. The president of NVSA said an introductory session of Falun Dafa should be conducted the next day, May 21, at the Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU), where the NVSA is established.

Despite the short preparatory time, Puri was able to put together a second event that included an audiovisual presentation on Falun Dafa’s health and wellness benefits and a demonstration of the practice’s exercises.

Many students asked for the exercise music and more information about the persecution of people in China who practice Falun Dafa.

The president of NVSA concluded the program, mentioning how difficult it was for her to sit still and meditate even for a minute, but today she could stay for about five minutes when she practiced Falun Dafa.

She also mentioned how important mental health is and how the practice of Falun Dafa can help people maintain a healthy mind and mental equilibrium under all circumstances.

Background: What Is Falun Dafa and Why Is the CCP Persecuting It?

Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) was first introduced to the public by Mr. Li Hongzhi in Changchun, China, in 1992. The spiritual discipline is now practiced in over 100 countries and regions worldwide. Millions of people who have embraced the teachings, which are based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and have learned the five exercises, have experienced improved health and well-being.

Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), perceived the spiritual discipline’s growing popularity as a threat to the CCP’s atheistic ideology, and on July 20, 1999, he issued an order to eradicate the practice.

Under Jiang’s personal direction, the CCP established the 610 Office, an extralegal security organization with the power to override the police and judicial systems and whose sole function is to carry out the persecution of Falun Dafa.

Minghui.org has confirmed the deaths of thousands of practitioners as a result of the persecution over the past 24 years. The actual number is believed to be much higher. Countless practitioners have been imprisoned and tortured for their faith.

There is concrete evidence that the CCP sanctions the harvesting of organs from detained practitioners, who are murdered to supply China’s organ transplant industry.
