(Minghui.org) A Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province, resident around 70 years old has been missing since May 16, 2023. Ms. Liu Guilan’s family suspects that she has left home to avoid being arrested for her faith in Falun Gong. Given her advanced age, her family is very worried about her.
On May 16, Ms. talked to a driving school employee, who happened to be waiting at a traffic light with her, about Falun Gong. He refused to let her go and took her to the nearby police station.
The police raided Ms. Liu’s home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and informational materials. She was released later that day.
The police ordered Ms. Liu’s family the next day to take her back to the police station to answer more questions. However, her family members, who didn’t live with her, could no longer find her at home or get in touch with her. They suspected she might have gone into hiding the night before.
The police threatened to suspend Ms. Liu’s pension, close her son-in-law’s company and force her granddaughter’s school to expel her if her loved ones didn’t turn her in.
The police also stayed outside of Mr. Liu’s home that evening, waiting to arrest her should she come back.
Ms. Liu used to suffer from severe stomach problems, duodenal ulcers, and arthritis. She took up Falun Gong in 1998 and soon regained her health.
