1. [Beijing] Ms. Han Chunbo Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison, Appeal Rejected
Ms. Han Chunbo, in her 60s, was arrested at her apartment in Qinglonghu by Fangshan Domestic Security Division officers on March 9, 2021. Her place was ransacked. The Fangshan Procuratorate recommended a seven-year prison term. The court sentenced her to eight years. Her appeal was rejected.
2. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Liu Shuhua Sentenced to Three Years in Prison
Ms. Liu Shuhua was sentenced to three years in prison. She was taken to the Changchun Woman’s Prison in May 2023.
3. [Xingtai City, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhao Can and Ms. Ju Yuxia Sentenced
Mr. Zhao Can and Ms. Ju Yuxia were sentenced by the Ningjin County Court. They have appealed to the Xingtai Intermediate Court.
4. [Tianjin] Mr. Liu Haibin Faces Trial
Mr. Liu Haibin was arrested on October 18, 2022. He is being held in the Dongli District Detention Center. The Dongli District Court scheduled his trial for June 5, 2023.
5. [Yinan County, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Changpeng Detained
Mr. Liu Changpeng of Shuanghou Town was arrested in the Lanshan District of Linyi City by officers from the Lanshan District Wulu Police Station on May 28, 2023. He is being held in an undisclosed location.
6. [Xian City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Liu Chunxia Detained
Ms. Liu Chunxia was arrested at work around 5:00 p.m. on May 6, 2023, by Yuan Xing from the Huyi District Domestic Security Division, deputy director Yang Yingbo from the Huimin Road Police Station, and officers from the Xian City Domestic Security Division. They took her to her home and ransacked the place. They confiscated a computer, a cell phone, six or seven Falun Gong books, four U-drives, 600 yuan with Falun Gong messages printed on them, an Agriculture Bank’s bank book, nearly 110,000 yuan in cash, and items unused for over 20 years. The Lianhu District Detention Center did not admit her because her blood pressure was as high as 234 mm-Hg. She is being held in Ankang Hospital. Her lawyer said her arrest was baseless and she should soon be acquitted.
7. [Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province] Several Practitioners Harassed
Mr. Shen Aixin was followed on March 29, 2023. He was followed again on March 31. Two hours after he got home, two officers from the local police station came and wanted to photograph him. He refused. One said, “Do not go out to distribute flyers or put up posters. Security cameras are everywhere. We have to send people to follow you.” Even though Mr. Shen lives on a farm, he is constantly monitored. The village head sent people to photograph him while he was farming.
Ms. Wang Qiuli was followed for two weeks. The license plate number of the car that followed her was: CAK5566.
Fu, 80s, gender unknown, was harassed at home by officers from the Mishan City No. 1 Police Station on May 31, 2023.
8. [Jidong County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Guifang Arrested, Ms. Lu Wenfan Detained
Ms. Lu Wenfan and Ms. Sun Guifang were arrested by officer Yang Cheng from the Dongfeng Police Station on the morning of April 15, 2023, after a student reported them for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Officers ransacked their homes and seized their Falun Gong books and other belongings. Ms. Sun was released the same day because she had high blood pressure. Ms. Lu was detained.
9. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] News on Xie Qingcai and Other Practitioners’ Arrests
Xie Qingcai, Lin Hongjie, and Fang Ruiqin were detained. Lin and Fang were released. Xie’s situation is unknown.
10. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhao Yougong Detained
Mr. Zhao Yougong was arrested on May 9, 2023. He is being held by the police.
11. [Longkou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Sun Guangjun and Other Practitioners Arrested or Detained
Many practitioners were arrested in their homes on May 9, 2023.
Mr. Sun Guangjun was arrested at home by Xufu Police Station officers on May 9, 2023. They ransacked his place and seized his notebook computer, Falun Gong books, and other belongings. He was released at night and given “house arrest” because of his health. He was incarcerated in the Baoanzhao Prison in Inner Mongolia in March 2006 for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. He was injected with unknown drugs in prison and lost the ability to take care of himself.
Ms. Li Fei was arrested at her friend Sun Guangjun’s sister’s home on May 9, 2023. The police ransacked that place as well as her work unit dormitory. They seized her computer, printer, Falun Gong materials, and other belongings. She is being held in the Yantai Detention Center.
Wang Yanrong, gender unknown, was arrested at home on May 9, 2023. Officers ransacked Wang’s home and seized Falun Gong books and other belongings. Wang was detained until mid-May and is now under house arrest.
Li, born in 1963, first name and gender unknown, was arrested at home on May 9, 2023. Officers ransacked Li’s home, seized Falun Gong books, a cell phone, and other belongings. Li was released the next morning. Li got back his or her cell phone from the Domestic Security Division.
12. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Yang Xingli Detained
Yang Xingli of Jishu, Shulan City, gender unknown, was arrested by Yushu City police on May 25, 2023. Yang was stalked by the police for writing information about Falun Gong in public places. Yang’s family learned that Yang was taken to a detention center by Yushu City police and given ten days of detention. The family received harassing calls. The callers claimed they were from the Jishu Township government. They also noticed that police cars were stationed near their home.
13. [Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Guizhen Detained
Ms. Zhang Guizhen was arrested at home by three officers from the Fendou Police Station on May 22, 2023. They searched her books and took her and her 12-year-old grandson to the police station. Her grandson was released to his father when the father went to the police station. Ms. Zhang was detained for ten days and released on June 1.
14. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Yanhui Arrested
Mr. Wang Yanhui has been formally arrested. Wanh Pengfei, who lives in the Qingyuan District, received the notification from the Gaoyang County Procuratorate.
15. [Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Wang Hua’s Whereabouts Unknown
Ms. Wang Hua, who lives in the Huyi District, was held in the Xi’an City Detention Center. When her lawyer recently went to meet with her in the detention center, he was told she was no longer there. Her family did not receive any notification. They think that she might have been transferred to the Shaanxi Province Women’s Prison.
16. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Shuyun Formally Arrested
Ms. Sun Shuyun, who lives in the Xiangfang District, was arrested in front of her younger sister’s apartment building in the Tianyue Neighborhood on May 20, 2023, by officers from the Hulan District Domestic Security Division, who were staked out there. The next day officer Liu Yingjun called her sister and told her, “Your sister has been detained and formally arrested. You can pick up her belongings from the Hulan District Police Department.” Ms. Sun is being held in the Harbin No. 2 Detention Center.
17. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhang Baosheng Detained, Family Harassed
Mr. Zhang Baosheng, 61, was interrupted by a plainclothes officer when he was doing the Falun Gong exercises in the Chaoyang Shoufu Neighborhood on the afternoon of May 12, 2023. When the officer asked what he was doing, he said, “Falun Gong.” The officer called the Damafang Police Station. Two officers came in a police car and took him to the police station. That night, he was taken to the police department, where officers collected his fingerprints, footprints, voice samples, blood samples, etc. The next day, he was taken to the Qingyuan Detention Center after being given a physical exam. He was detained for 12 days. After he was released, clerks from the local residential committee made harassing calls to his wife and son.
18. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Mr. Hou Lijun on Hunger Strike
Mr. Hou Lijun, 52, lives in Taiyuan City. He was arrested on April 25, 2023, by Yijing Police Station officers after he stayed away from home for 20 years to avoid being persecuted. He was first transferred to the Xiaojingyu Police Station, then to the Taiyuan City No. 1 Detention Center.
Mr. Hou was sentenced to 12 years in prison 20 years ago by the Wanbolin District Court judge Gao Aiping. When Gao gave him the 20-year verdict in the detention center, Mr. Hou tore it up and appealed to the Taiyuan City Intermediate Court.
He has been on hunger strike since he was arrested 40 days ago.
