(Minghui.org) An 82-year-old woman was abused while serving a three-year term for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
When Ms. Wang Yuhe’s daughter, Ms. Sun Caiyan, went to the 11th ward in Liaoning Province Women’s Prison to visit her on June 14, 2023, she was devastated to see that Ms. Wang had trouble walking. The shoes she wore were too big for her. Ms. Wang told her daughter that she was punished for not finishing her meals. The guards ended the meeting in ten minutes.
Ms. Wang, of Dalian City, Liaoning Province, was arrested on July 21, 2014, together with her daughter. While Ms. Wang was released on bail, Ms. Sun was sentenced to three years and three months by the Shahekou District Court.
On July 1, 2015, a day after Ms. Sun was taken to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison, Ms. Wang was sentenced by the same court to three years in prison. To avoid being taken into prison, she went into hiding for the next three years. When she returned home in 2018, the police constantly came to harass her and her family.
Ms. Sun’s husband, Mr. Guo Qi, succumbed to the mental pressure from the persecution. He passed away in June 2021 from sepsis and organ failure.
Although judge Li Bianjiang who sentenced Ms. Wang in 2015 had retired, his successor Sun Xihe ordered the bailiff to take Ms. Wang back into custody shortly after Mr. Guo’s death.
On October 14, 2021, Liu Yu and another officer from the Heishijiao Police Station arrested Ms. Wang at her daughter’s home. When Ms. Sun went to the court to demand the release of her mother, judge Sun refused and claimed that he was just following the law. Ms. Wang was transferred to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on December 31, 2021. She is scheduled to be released on September 14, 2024.
The Jinpuxin District Social Security Office has been suspending Ms. Wang’s pension since August 2023.
