(Minghui.org) Two women from Luohe City, Henan Province, were recently sentenced to prison for their shared faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Ms. Su Huili
Ms. Su Huili was studying Falun Gong books with other practitioners in a private home in October 2022 when she was arrested by the Ganhechen Police Station. Her arrest was formally approved on December 2, 2022. She stood trial in May 2023 and was sentenced to four and a half years with a 5,000-yuan fine. She is now serving time in Xinxiang Prison.
Ms. Li Shuluan
Ms. Li went to nearby Xiping County to talk to people about Falun Gong in 2020. Someone reported her to the police, and agents from the Xiping County Police Department took her to the Zhumadian City Detention Center. Zhumadian City oversees Xiping County.
Ms. Li was later released on bail due to health reasons. The Xiping County Police Department kept harassing her at home over the next few years. Her arrest was formally approved in June 2023. Days later, more than ten people from the Xiping County Police Department, the Xiping County Procuratorate, and the Xiping County Court broke into her son’s home where she was staying and convened a hearing of her case.
The judge sentenced her to three and a half years with a 10,000-yuan fine. She was taken back into custody on June 12, 2023. She is currently being held at the Xiping County Detention Center.
