(Minghui.org) A Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province resident was recently sentenced to four years with an 8,000-yuan fine for his faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Mr. Wang Lin was arrested on March 22, 2023, by agents from the Hi-Tech Industry Development Zone Domestic Security Office in Jinzhou City. He was indicted by the Linghai City Procuratorate on May 8 and tried by the Linghai City Court on June 5.
Linghai City is under the administration of Jinzhou City. Both the Linghai City Procuratorate and the Linghai City Court have been designated to handle Falun Gong cases in the region.
Judge Huang Yanchun announced the prison sentence against Mr. Wang on June 25. He has filed an appeal at the time of writing.
Mr. Wang took up Falun Gong in March 1999, after witnessing how the practice had improved his father’s health. His own illnesses soon disappeared too. Known to his family and friends as a spoiled brat, Mr. Wang turned into a considerate and kind person as he strove to live by Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. He quit gambling and other bad habits as well.
Because of his positive experience with Falun Gong, Mr. Wang never wavered in his faith after the persecution began in July 1999. He was arrested numerous times in the past 24 years for upholding his faith. In particular, he was given one year of forced labor in 2004 and sentenced to four years in prison in 2014.

Mr. Wang was later assigned to the Second Brigade, where he was held alone in a cell. Guards Li Songtao and Zhang Chunfeng ordered inmates to tie his legs up with bedsheets for three straight hours. His legs were then untied, only to be tied up again later. Sometimes the tying torture would be repeated three times a day. While his legs were tied, inmate Zhang Tiejun stomped on his legs with leather shoes. Mr. Wang was unable to walk for the next three months.
Inmate Wang Zhi once urinated in a container and then poured the urine into Mr. Wang’s mouth together with inmate Zhang. They wiped Mr. Wang’s legs with paper smeared with stool and stuffed his mouth with a rag before putting in a snaffle bit. The guards then shocked him with several electric batons simultaneously.
Another time Mr. Wang was taken to the basement of a newly built building to be put on what was dubbed “ball torture.” The guards tied his legs and neck up such that he curled up like a ball.
