1. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Wang Lin Sentenced to Four Years in Prison
Wang Lin received the verdict from Linghai City Court on June 25, 2023, and was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 8000 yuan. Wang appealed to the intermediate court.
2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Guo Caihua Sentenced to Four Years in Prison
Ms. Guo Caihua was arrested by South Square Police Station officers on September 11, 2022. She was sentenced to four years in prison on April 28, 2023. Ms. Guo has been held in the detention center and has recently appealed her case.
Ms. Guo’s husband has suffered from the aftereffects of a stroke for many years and was taken to a nursing home after his wife was arrested and unable to take care of him. He became critically ill and was taken to the emergency room twice in June. After being discharged from the hospital, he was unable to recognize anyone and was unconscious most of time. He has been fitted with a gastric feeding tube.
3. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Case Against Three Practitioners Submitted to Procuratorate
Ms. Chen Shuling, Ms. Dong Haiyan, and Ms. Shi Yujie have been arrested and detained for over 80 days. Their case has been submitted to the Qiaodong Procuratorate.
4. [Chenxi County, Hunan Province] Ms. Ou Jianxiang Arrested
Ms. Ou Jianxiang, over 60, was arrested at home by Chenxi County Police Department officers at around 7 a.m. on July 7, 2023, for talking to people about Falun Gong on a cell phone. She was released at 5 p.m., but her cell phone was confiscated.
5. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhao Jinmin Arrested
Ms. Zhao Jinmin and another female practitioner were arrested recently.
6. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Yongmei Arrested and Detained
Ms. Liu Yongmei was arrested at home by Wang Hanfu, head of the Nonghe Town Police Station in Tonghe County, and other officers on the morning of July 8, 2023. Her home was ransacked and Dafa books were confiscated.
Ms. Liu’s husband video recorded the officers on his cell phone when they broke into their home through the window. He struggled with them when they tried to take his phone and had to flee when they tried to arrest him.
7. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Practitioner Gao Ke Missing
Gao Ke went missing in Bin County on June 16, 2023.
8. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Practitioners Gao Yandong and Shi Xiaoqin Arrested
Practitioner Gao Yandong from Dingzhuang Village, Cuimiao Town, Fucheng County, was arrested at home on July 6, 2023, by officers from Cuimiao Police Station and Fucheng Police Department for talking to people about Falun Gong on a cell phone. Ms. Shi Xiaoqin who lives in the same village as Gao was arrested that afternoon. Their homes were ransacked. The police confiscated copies of Minghui Weekly from Gao’s home and Dafa books and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder from Ms. Shi’s home.
Gao is in Fucheng County Hospital with liver problems and is under police watch. Ms. Shi is seriously ill, and her family took her to the hospital.
9. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Practitioner Liang Yi Detained
Liang Yi was caught on a surveillance camera distributing truth-clarifying materials in Han Street and was arrested. Liang was held in the police station for 15 days before being taken to the Wuchang District Detention Center.
10. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Tong Lihua Arrested
Ms. Tong Lihua from Toudao Village, Dafangshen Town, Dehui City, was arrested by Dafangshen Police Station officers on July 8, 2023, and detained for five days.
11. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Liu Hongyun and Ms. Zhang Yaru Detained
Mr. Liu Hongyun is being held in the Acheng District Detention Center. His wife Ms. Zhang Yaru is being held in the No.2 Detention Center of Harbin City.
12. [Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Zhang Xinqian Arrested and Detained
Zhang Xinqian from Quantai Town, Baiquan County, was arrested on July 3, 2023, for distributing truth-clarifying materials via WeChat (a popular social media app). Zhang is being held in the Baicheng Detention House.
13. [Beijing] Practitioner Liu Yaping Under Residential Surveillance
Practitioner Liu Yaping was placed under residential surveillance by the Pinggu 610 Office, Yuyang Police Station, Jinhaihu Police Station, and the Taiheyuan Residential Committee. Two surveillance cameras were installed in front of Liu Yaping’s home.
14. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Practitioner Xie Hankui Facing Trial
Xie Hankui was arrested by officers in the Meijiang District on February 24, 2023, because of a statement posted on WeChat. Xie’s home was ransacked. Xie was released later that day.
Xie was placed under criminal arrest on the afternoon of February 26 and has been detained. Xie is scheduled to be tried by the Mei County Court at 9 a.m. on July 13.
