(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 18 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Huai’an City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Feng Huizhen Taken to Prison
Ms. Feng Huizhen was taken to Nanjing Women’s Prison on April 29, 2023.
2. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Qu Xing Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison
Mr. Qu Xing was sentenced to eight years in prison by the Chengdu High-tech Zone Court during his first trial. He appealed to the Chengdu Intermediate Court, and the original sentence was upheld. Mr. Qu was taken to Jiazhou Prison in Leshan City.
3. [Shanghai] Ms. Yin Guihua Arrested
Ms. Yin Guihua, from the Nanyuan section of Jinruiyuan Residential Community, Qingpu District, was arrested at home by officers from the Changning District Domestic Security Division on June 12, 2023. She was placed under criminal detention. Her home was ransacked and her computer, printer, and all her Falun Gong-related items were confiscated, leaving the place in shambles.
4. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Zhou Huajian Faces Sentencing
Mr. Zhou Huajian, 73, was tried by the Maonan District Court in the Maoming City No. 1 Detention Center on the morning of April 27, 2023. The sentence was to be announced on the morning of July 10.
Mr. Zhou has been held in the detention center for over three years and three months. He developed serious physical problems. His face swelled, he was frequently dizzy, he was slow in responding to others, could not think clearly, had poor vision, and walked unsteadily. He has aged significantly.
5. [Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Ying Develops Illness Symptoms After Being Released from Prison
Ms. Li Ying was followed and arrested by officers from the Liaoyang City Police Station on December 7, 2021, and was taken to a detention center. Afterwards, she was sentenced to one year and six months by the Dengta City Court. When she returned home on June 7, 2023, she developed serious illness symptoms. So far, she is still seeking medical treatment in a hospital out of town.
Before Ms. Li was arrested and sentenced to prison, she was in good health, cheerful and enthusiastic.
6. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
Mr. Liu Hongyun and his wife Ms. Zhang Yaru from Acheng District were arrested at home at noon on July 4, 2023. Further details are pending.
Mr. Sun Tienong from Acheng District was released on bail for one year. That one-year term has come to an end. Yang Ziheng and others from the Acheng District Domestic Security Division monitored Mr. Sun based on his license plate number and his cellphone. On July 4, 2023, he was arrested on his way to work, and was held in the Bajiazi Police Station in Wuchang City. His car and cell phone were confiscated at the time of arrest.
7. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zheng Wei Displaced
Ms. Zheng Wei, 59, was arrested by officers from the Jiangnan Police Station in Fengman District while distributing Falun Gong materials on the afternoon of August 18, 2022. Afterwards, her home ransacked. She was released on bail. Officers from the police station harassed Ms. Zheng several times and told her to sign paperwork on the grounds that some documents were missing her signature. They also photographed her.
On March 29, 2023, the police harassed Ms. Zheng again, telling her to sign a subpoena and an interrogation transcript. On May 30, procuratorate personnel ordered her to go to the procuratorate. After Ms. Zheng went there, she did not return home and has become displaced in order to avoid further persecution.
8. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Chuanhong Arrested
Ms. Wang Chuanhong from Fushan District was arrested at her home by the Fushan District police on the morning of July 5, 2023. Further details are pending.
9. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Li Tieying Detained
Ms. Li Tieying was arrested by officers from the Ranghulu District Police Department on July 12, 2022. She was released on bail for one year. Ms. Li was arrested on June 20, 2023. She was detained for 15 days and returned home on July 5.
10. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Yang Bin and Wife Ms. Hu Xuefei Held in Custody for Over Two Months
Mr. Yang Bin and his wife Ms. Hu Xuefei were arrested by officers from the Xinhua Police Department on May 11, 2023. The officers ransacked their home and a warehouse. They confiscated a large number of personal items, including printers.
At that time, Ms. Hu’s nearly 80-year-old mother was ill and hospitalized. Her daughter is studying overseas in a university. Now her daughter has lost her source of income and cannot pay her tuition fees.
After Ms. Hu was arrested, she called her relatives and friends around 1 a.m. on May 12, asking them to help take care of her elderly parents. The couple are held in the Chaoyang City Detention Center.
11. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Mr. Du Changjiang Held in Detention Center
Mr. Du Changjiang was arrested on June 21, 2023, for mailing people information about Falun Gong. He was detained for 10 days. When the officers were detaining him, they tried to collect his personal information. He refused to allow them to get information, resisted, and broke free. The officers falsely charged him with assaulting the police.
On July 3, 2023, Mr. Du went to the Domestic Security Division to talk to them about Falun Gong and was taken into custody on the spot. He is currently being held in the Yushu Detention Center.
12. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Fu Xinhua Placed Under Residential Surveillance
Ms. Fu Xinhua was released from the Langfang City Detention Center on June 13, 2023. She was placed under residential surveillance.
13. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Liu Xiwen and Jiang Qi Arrested
Officers from the Qianguo County Police Department, along with officers from the Jilatu Township Police Station, arrested Liu Xiwen from the No. 3 Sub-factory of Hongqi Farm in Jilatu Township, Qianguo County, on July 3, 2023. Liu was detained for 7 days.
Five or six officers from the Qianguo County Domestic Security Division and the Jilatu Township Police Station went to Jiang Qi’s home in Xiaga Village, Jilatu Township, on the morning of July 2, 2023. They ransacked the place and confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong and a copy of Hong Yin IV, among other items.
They took Jiang to the police station and then to the Qianguo County Police Department, where they collected Jiang’s personal information. Jiang was taken to a detention center to be held for 15 days. The detention center refused to accept Jiang because Jiang’s blood pressure was extremely high. Jiang returned home that evening.
14. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yang Xiuye Arrested
Ms. Yang Xiuye was arrested and her home was ransacked by officers from the Lingshui Police Station in the Dalian High-tech Industrial Zone on the afternoon of July 6, 2023.
