(Minghui.org) The police officer in charge of our residential subdivision knocked on my door the morning of July 19, 1999, and asked me to come down to the police station to have a talk. I followed him to the station because several parents and children of neighboring families were watching a video of Master’s Fa lectures in my apartment.
An older police officer from the district police department asked me a lot of questions about Falun Gong. They let me go that evening. At group Fa study that night, I learned that two Falun Dafa assistants from our study group had also been taken to the police station and had been asked the same questions while we were separated in different rooms.
On July 20, 1999, the police officer in charge of our subdivision and another one came to my apartment again. They appeared surprised to see so many parents and children watching Master’s Fa lectures. They went out to make a phone call. I knew something bad would happen because they didn’t want to use my home phone to call. I told the practitioners there to leave quickly while the police were out making the call. A short while after the practitioners left, several police officers arrived, including the older man from the district police department. I told them that Lecture Five was the shortest lecture and that everyone had already left.
On July 21, two police officers who were new to me showed up. My neighbor practitioners and their children were watching the video of Lecture Six in my apartment, so I told the officers to sit on the last row. After they watched the lecture, one of them said that there was nothing wrong with what was in the video. Some of the parents also commented that Falun Gong teaches people to be kind and honest and that the authorities needn’t overreact and mobilize so many officers.
Nine police officers in turn started working shifts in my apartment after that. I wrote down their names. When I browsed the Minghui website, they read the articles next to me. There was an article about Beijing Fengtai Stadium that had a photo showing a huge Falun floating above the stadium. I was moved to tears. The officers reading the same story quickly wrote something down and hurried back to the station. They refused to use my home phone and they didn’t have cellphones then, so they passed information to the station by sending one of them back and forth after they read something valuable on the Minghui website.
At 3 p.m. on July 22, 1999, China Central TV broadcast “breaking news” about Falun Gong, falsely claiming that up to 10 deaths were related to Falun Gong. They also tampered with Master’s scripture “Some Thoughts of Mine.” I asked the police officers to read Master’s original scripture and then asked them to read the falsified scripture published by the CCP. They went silent.
After the persecution started, the police officer in charge of our subdivision protected me many times. Many other officers at that police station also chose to stand on the right side. Over the years, I haven’t seen any reports on the Minghui website that they participated in the persecution.
