(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 22 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 48 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Guo Fenglian will be tried in the Yaodu District Court on July 18, 2023.
Two people in plainclothes who claimed to be from the Linghai City Procuratorate went to see Ms. Wang Guixia in July 2023. Ms. Wang, who is nearly 80 years old, was not at home. They said her case had been turned over to the procuratorate and told her family to sign the paperwork.
On July 11, a prosecutor from the Linghai City Procuratorate called her family and said that Ms. Wang had to go to the procuratorate to answer questions for the record. The family refused to cooperate.
On September 25, 2022, Ms. Wang was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong in Beihu Park. Shiqiaozi Police Station officers arrested her, ransacked her home, and confiscated her Falun Gong books. Ms. Wang was released on bail.
Chen Zonglin and Deng Ping’an (genders unknown) were reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong at Gouer Market on North Street in the Lianglu Sub-district of the Yubei District on the morning of July 13, 2023. Both practitioners were arrested.
The Yubei District Police Department carried out a campaign to remove names from the blacklist between June and July. Anyone who practiced Falun Gong in the past had to sign the Three Statements. The statement was pre-written.
Mr. Chen Zhiguo was reported to the police by people from the Lijing International Residential Community Management Office in the Longgang District for distributing Falun Gong materials in the community on the morning of July 14, 2023. Mr. Chen was arrested by Bianfang Police Station officers, taken to the Huludao City Detention Center, and held for 10 days.
Mr. Zhang Kunshan was sentenced to seven years in prison. He is currently being abused in Jinzhou Prison and has developed heart problems. He has followed legal procedures to appeal his sentence, demanding that the original sentence be revoked and the judgment be changed to “not guilty.”
Ms. Zhang Linying was coaxed into going to the police station by five or six officers from the Chengguan Police Station around 1 p.m. on June 2, 2023. She was then taken to the Hongyuan Hotel, where a brainwashing class was held. She was released that evening.
On June 4, Ms. Feng Caixia’s home was ransacked by officers from the Gaotie Police Station. Her cell phone was confiscated. She was forced to sign a form. She was threatened and told she would be imprisoned.
In early June, Yan Hui’s home was ransacked by more than 12 police officers and community management office staff members. Photos of the founder of Falun Gong were confiscated.
Ms. Zhang Shuhua, 71, was arrested on July 4. Party secretary Xu Baiqun of the Chenghuangmiao Community arrived first with three people. They knocked on the door. Then eight or nine police officers came and carried Ms. Zhang into the elevator. They pushed her into a police car and took her to th station. That afternoon, Ms. Zhang was transferred to the Hongyuan Hotel, where a brainwashing class was held. She was released on July 7.
Four or five people from Chengguan Township and Gaotaijing Community broke into Chang Li’s home and harassed Chang on July 8.
On July 11, five or six people from Chengguan Township and the Nanguan Community broke into Huo Ruihua’s home and harassed Huo.
Community management office personnel went to Ms. Su Chunfeng’s home on July 12, 2023. When they realized she was home, they contacted the Xinhua Police Department’s Domestic Security Division staff, who arrested her. Ms. Su was taken to the Cangzhou City Detention Center on July 13.
Ms. Liu Qiaoyun and Ms. Li Yulan from Chengguan Town were reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong and helping them quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations at 8:30 a.m. on July 7, 2023.
When they passed by the Chengguan Town Police Station, they were arrested, threatened, and interrogated. The officers also forcibly took blood samples from them, photographed them, and forced them to sign the interrogation transcripts. The officers also ransacked Ms. Li’s home and confiscated Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong.
The Wenjiang District Police Department mobilized several officers to arrest eight practitioners and ransack their homes on May 24, 2023. They confiscated many personal belongings, including computers, printers, Falun Gong books, printed materials, and cash.
Ms. Liu Shufang and Wang Wenhong were arrested by several officers from the Wenjiang Police Department and the Yunxi Police Station. They broke into Ms. Liu’s home at 7:30 a.m. on May 24 and confiscated computers, printers, and nearly 100,000 yuan in cash. The two practitioners were taken to the Xinjin Brainwashing Center. Ms. Liu returned home on the afternoon of May 25. Wang was held in the brainwashing center. The police threatened to sentence Wang to prison.
Ms. Wei Yaru, Sun Mingyou, Sun Hao, and Xu were arrested at the homes of Sun Mingyou and Sun Hao by state security personnel from the Wenjiang District Police Department and officers from the Gongping Police Station on May 24. Informational materials about Falun Gong and computers were confiscated. Ms. Wei and Sun Mingyou were allowed to return home after 3 p.m. that afternoon because of their poor health. Ms. Wei was later hospitalized for treatment. Sun Hao and Xu were taken to Yongsheng Detention Center.
Luo Yi was arrested and his or her home was ransacked by Yunxi Police Station officers on May 24. Luo is still in Yongsheng Detention Center. Li Tao was arrested and Li’s home was ransacked by officers from the Shou’an Police Station on May 24. Luo was held in the Yongsheng Detention Center.
Yang Jian was arrested on May 19, 2023, at an out-of-town practitioner’s home and was held in the Yongsheng Detention Center. In 2022 Yang was persecuted. Yang left home to avoid further persecution.
Ms. Huang Guoru was arrested by officers from the Gongping Police Station but was released around 11 p.m. the day she was arrested.
Ms. Luo, 85, was recently arrested by officers from the Yongning Police Station around 11 a.m. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, printed materials, and photos of the founder of Falun Gong. Ms. Luo was released around 11 p.m. the day she was arrested due to health problems.
Ms. Hou Meixian from the Changtai Residential Community was arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong and distributing Falun Gong materials at the Shizhuang Farmers Market on July 4, 2023. Her home was ransacked, and her Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong were confiscated.
Li Chuanrong (gender unknown) from Erdao Village, Xinzhuang Township, was caught distributing Minghui Weekly Issue No. 938 in July 2023 on surveillance cameras. Li was arrested by members of the Yushu City 610 Office and Domestic Security officers. The officers ransacked Li’s home and confiscated copies of Minghui Weekly.
The officers tortured and beat Li to try to find out the source of the publications. Li is being held in Yushu Detention Center.
Ms. Liu Shuying, 73, was detained and sentenced to prison for practicing Falun Gong.
On the afternoon of July 12, 2023, six or seven officers from the Yingsheng Police Station broke into Ms. Liu’s home. They ransacked it and made audio and video recordings on the grounds that she was caught on surveillance cameras while distributing Falun Gong materials in April and May. They confiscated a copy of Zhuan Falun and photos of the founder of Falun Gong.
They repeatedly asked where the Falun Gong materials came from and threatened to take her to the police station. Due to Ms. Liu’s heart problems, she had difficulty breathing. Before they left, the officers warned her, “If we find you distributing Falun Gong materials again, we will prosecute you.”
Ms. Yang Yingchun from Jing County was arrested in Zaoqiang County on July 13, 2023. Further information is pending.
Ms. Li Pingyu, 70, was arrested on March 28, 2023. She was taken to the Jiang’an District Brainwashing Center. After being held for two months Ms. Li was taken to the Wuhan City Detention Center. She was taken home on June 30.
Liang Jun (gender unknown) was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong at the Wangtaizhuang Farmers Market in the Funing District between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. on July 14, 2023. After a plainclothes officer grabbed Liang, two police cars arrived. They handcuffed Liang and pushed him or her into the car. Liang was taken to the public security hospital and his or her car was towed away. Around 12 noon, Liang’s home was ransacked and many Falun Gong materials were confiscated.
Around 1 p.m. on July 14, when Ms. Gong Junmei from the Haigang District went to Liang’s home, she was arrested and taken to the Haigang District Police Department. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, Falun Gong books, and printed materials. She was released due to health issues and returned home around 10 p.m. that night.
On July 14, Ms. Yu Shuyun’s home was ransacked. Further details are pending.
One morning around July 15, Hong Yanrong was arrested by officers from the Haigang District Police Department. Hong’s home was ransacked. Hong was taken to the Qinhuangdao Detention Center.
Several officers from the Yanshun Road Police Station went to Mr. Zhang Xuefu’s home in Cangtou Village, Yanjiao Town, on the morning of July 14, 2023, to arrest him, but he was not there. Around 4 or 5 p.m. that afternoon, four or five officers came in two cars to the school where Mr. Zhang worked and arrested him.
Mr. Lai Dongping was reported to the police for distributing information about Falun Gong on July 11, 2023. He was arrested by officers from the Chayuan Police Station. His home was ransacked that evening. Mr. Lai is being held in the Fuzhou City No. 2 Detention Center.
Ms. Tian Xiuli from Wangguzhuang Village, Dacuizhuang Town, Qian’an City, was arrested in July 2023 by officers from the Qian’an City Domestic Security Division. She is now in the Qian’an City Detention Center.
Around 9 a.m. on July 15, Ms. Wu Cuiping, Ms. Li Xueying, and Ms. Hao Qingzhi from Qian’an City were arrested by six or seven officers from the Kouzhuang Township Police Station for talking to people about Falun Gong. The three practitioners returned home around 11 a.m.
Hu Hui (gender unknown) was arrested in his or her hometown of Nangong City. On the morning of July 17, 2023, the Nangong City police ransacked Hu’s home in Xingtai City.
Three officers from the Renmin Road Police Station ransacked Ms. Wang Yumin’s home on the afternoon of July 17, 2023. They confiscated Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, audio players, and calendars. Ms. Wang was not home at the time.
Ms. Wang’s non-practitioner son was taken to the police station for interrogation and then released.
Mr. Jiang Xiaohua from Duchang County was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials on July 17, 2023. He was arrested at the scene. His home was ransacked.
Just after 12 a.m. on July 14, 2023, officer Liao and three other people from the Yulin Police Station in the Wuhou District broke into Ms. Xing Chen’s home. They said that they wanted to check her computer.
Ms. Xing’s family asked them to show a search warrant, but Liao said the case did not require one. They took Ms. Xing and her computer to the Fuqing Road Police Station.
At the station, Liao questioned Ms. Xing and transcribed the conversation. The whole process was done to pressure her to confess. Ms. Xing refused to answer their questions. Around 2 a.m. Liao took Ms. Xing home but told her to go to the Yulin Police Station that afternoon.
Ms. Wang Lixia was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong. After being detained for 15 days, she was taken to a brainwashing center.
She was subsequently released on bail. She has recently been arrested and taken to a detention center. In June 2023, it was reported that she was indicted.
