(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 17 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yang Jing Admitted to Prison
Ms. Yang Jing was sentenced to three years in prison and was admitted to the Chengdu City Women’s Prison. Her family members were not allowed to visit her.
On March 3, 2021, Ms. Yang was reported to the police for giving a USB flash drive to a woman on a bus. Domestic Security officers located her address through surveillance videos and called the landlord to the police station. On March 12 the officers ransacked her home.
On March 13, 2021, Ms. Yang was arrested by officers from the Hongpailou Police Station and taken to the Chengdu City Detention Center. She was officially placed under arrest on April 19.
Ms. Yang was tried in the Wuhou District Court on January 6 and again on February 14, 2023. She was sentenced to three years in prison.
2. [Fuyu City, Jilin Province] Mr. Shan Fenglong Arrested
Mr. Shan Fenglong, 60, was arrested by four officers from the Zhenlai County Police Department on August 5, 2023, for posting Falun Dafa songs on the Kuaishou social media app, which was monitored by the Internet police. He is being held in the Zhenlai County Detention Center and has been officially placed under arrest.
3. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Three Practitioners Pass Away Due to Persecution
Mr. Zheng Xin used to be a senior manager in a company. After the Chinese Communist Party started to persecute Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Mr. Zheng was one of their primary targets in the Chifeng area. He was arrested and sent to serve three years of forced labor. In the labor camp, he was not allowed to do the Falun Gong exercises or read the Falun Gong teachings. He was subjected to brainwashing in an attempt to “transform” him. Mr. Zheng developed stroke symptoms. He was taken to a hospital, where doctors advised an immediate operation and he was released on medical parole.
After Mr. Zheng was released from the labor camp, he read the Fa teachings and did the exercises at home. His health improved. However, the place where he lived was surrounded by people assigned by the authorities to monitor him. Mr. Zheng was placed under residential surveillance for a long time and was harassed by the police and sub-district management personnel. Mr. Zheng passed away on December 29, 2022, at the age of 79.
Ms. Sun Yurong, 76, from the Hongshan District was arrested at home by Dongcheng Police Station officers on the afternoon of March 7, 2012. They confiscated a computer and personal belongings. They also arrested Ms. Wang Jinglan when she visited Ms. Sun. Ms. Sun was held in the Hongshan District Detention Center. After returning home, some people harassed her at her home, and pressured her to cooperate, which she refused to do. Ms. Sun passed away around the end of 2022.
Early on April 18, 2017, Ms. Zhang Suzhen from the Hongshan District was arrested by Songshan District Police Department officers for practicing the Falun Gong exercises outdoors. She was detained. Ms. Zhang passed away on August 6, 2023, at the age of 68.
4. [Fengning County, Hebei Province] Ms. Chu Lianxia Arrested
Ms. Chu Lianxia was arrested at home by officers from the Fengning County Domestic Security Division at 8 a.m. on August 21, 2023. They confiscated her Falun Gong books and a computer.
5. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Bai Yushu’s Home Ransacked
Ms. Bai Yushu from Fuping County was spotted by two police officers when she was about to post Falun Gong materials in a narrow alley on August 4, 2023. They searched her bag and took the materials. They searched her home and confiscated a copy of the Nine Commentaries, several printed brochures, and hundreds of leaflets that advised people to quit the CCP to stay safe during the pandemic.
6. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Fang Yanan Admitted to Prison
Ms. Fang Yanan, in her 70s, was admitted to Jilin Province Women’s Prison.
7. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhong Shuqin Harassed
Two officers from the Hehuashan Police Station in Zhuanghe City went to Ms. Zhong Shuqin’s home around 10 a.m. on August 9, 2023. They told her to sign paperwork, which she refused to do. Ms. Zhong’s grandson was there, so the officers ordered him to sign the paperwork, which he did. They asked Ms. Zhong if she still practiced Falun Gong. She did not answer, and they left.
8. [Neijiang City, Sichuan Province] Pan Zunhong Held in Detention Center
Pan Zunhong had been missing since June 20, 2023. It was recently learned that Pan was arrested for distributing Falun Gong materials and is now being held in the Shuangcai Detention Center.
9. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yin Liyun Arrested
Ms. Yin Liyun was arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong on the morning of August 22, 2023.
10. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Yonghang Harassed
Mr. Wang Yonghang from Dalian City, Liaoning Province, was at the West Railway Station in Cangzhou City, Hebei Province, and about to board Train No. G390 from Linyi North Station to Dalian North Station on the morning of August 20, 2023. After going through the security check and before passing through the turnstile, railway police officers scanned his national ID card. The system alerted them. The officers took him to the bus terminal in the public square outside the station, where they registered his national ID card, ticket, and cell phone number. They also photographed him against his will.
11. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Jin Meizi and Zhang Shaohua Missing
Jin Meizi and Zhang Shaohua from the Shuguang New Complex in the Aimin District lost contact with their families when they went out to talk to people about Falun Gong on August 19, 2023. Their families have not heard from them since.
12. [Suifenhe City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Dongmei Returns Home from Detention Center
Ms. Liu Donghai from Suifenghe City was tried in the Hailin City Court. She returned home on August 17, 2023, from the Mudanjiang Detention Center in Hualin Town, Mudanjiang City.
Ms. Liu was arrested by Zhang Xiaoyi, head of the Suifenhe City Domestic Security Division, and other officers when she was distributing Falun Gong materials on February 17, 2023. Several officers ransacked her home and confiscated a large number of personal items. Ms. Liu was taken to the Mudanjiang City Detention Center the following day.
Ms. Liu was officially placed under arrest by the Hailin City Procuratorate on March 28. She was tried in the Hailin City Court on August 11. She returned home on August 17.
