(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 21 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Tang Lirong Sentenced to Prison
Mr. Tang Lirong, 67, was tried by the Jingyang District Court on February 17, 2023. He was sentenced to four years and six months in prison and fined 40,000 yuan. Mr. Tang appealed to the Deyang Intermediate Court.
2. [Liuyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Luo Hong Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Luo Hong, in her 50s, was arrested at home by officers from the Dapingqiao Police Station around July 1, 2022. The police confiscated all her Falun Gong books and asked where she got several recently published Falun Gong books. Ms. Luo was held in a detention center and was later transferred to the Liuyang City Detention Center. It was recently reported that she was sentenced to three years and six months in prison.
3. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Na Junpeng Faces Trial
Mr. Na Junpeng from the Xiangfang District will be tried in the Daowai District Court at 10 a.m. on September 6, 2023.
4. [Hailin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Fu Zhaocui Hospitalized after Abuse in Prison
Ms. Fu Zhaocui was sentenced to nine years and six months in prison in 2022, but was placed under residential surveillance due to her health. She was later taken to the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison. On August 30, 2023, Ms. Fu’s family hired a lawyer who asked to visit her. After she was abused in prison, Ms. Fu was taken to the hospital.
5. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Cases Against Lin Hongjie and Teng Qinhua Turned Over to Procuratorate
Lin Hongjie and Teng Qinhua were notified over the phone in mid-August 2023 that the procuratorate received their cases.
6. [Chongqing] Ms. Yu Dehui Officially Arrested
Ms. Yu Dehui is being held in the Shapingba District Detention Center. She was officially placed under arrest.
7. [Gongzhuling City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wei Shuyan and Daughter Ms. Liu Qian Arrested
Eight practitioners from Fanjiatun Town were arrested around July 20, 2023. It was reported that Ms. Wei Shuyan, in her 60s, and her daughter Ms. Liu Qian were also arrested. Ms. Wei was followed when she distributed Falun Gong materials. Ms. Wei was also followed when she went to her sister-in-law Ms. Bai Shuzhi’s home. The police arrested Ms. Wei and Ms. Bai, and ransacked their homes.
8. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Deli Harassed
Ms. Wang Deli, in her 70s, from Zhifu District was reported to the police when she distributed information about Falun Gong on May 25, 2023. She was arrested and her home was ransacked by officers from the Baishi Road Police Station in the Zhifu District. That night, Ms. Wang was taken to the Affiliated Hospital of Binzhou Medical College for a physical examination. She was also interrogated that night. The next morning, the officers took her medical examination report to the detention center. A doctor at the detention center refused to accept her due to her poor physical condition.
Ms. Wang’s husband received a call in mid-August from officers at the Baishi Road Police Station, ordering Ms. Wang to go to the police station. The officers pressured her to sign paperwork, as they were working on turning her case over to the procuratorate. Ms. Wang refused to sign anything. In late August, Ms. Wang was harassed by officers from the Lijiaoqiao Police Station in Zhifu District.
9. [Chongqing] Ms. Zhang Hua on Hunger Strike in Detention Center
Ms. Zhang Hua from the Erdaokan area in Tongnan District was arrested at home by officers including Sun Botao from the Tongnan District Domestic Security Division on August 7, 2023. The officers confiscated USB drives and personal belongings. It was reported that Ms. Zhang is held in the Hechuan District Detention Center. She went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution.
10. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Ms. Chen Jinxiu Arrested
Ms. Chen Jinxiu and another practitioner from Xinjie Town, Jiayu County, were reported to the police when they talked to people about Falun Gong on the afternoon of August 29, 2023. They were arrested and are held in the Jiayu County Detention Center.
11. [Yishui County, Shandong Province] Feng Guichun Held in Detention Center
Feng Guichun from Huangshanpu Town was arrested by officers from the Lanshan District Police Department on August 25, 2023. Feng is being held in the Linyi City Detention Center.
12. [Ju County, Shandong Province] Wang Jin Detained
Wang Jin was harassed by officers from the Chengxi Police Station. The officers placed Wang on administrative detention from August 21 to 26, 2023, on the grounds that someone reported Wang for talking to people about Falun Gong. Wang returned home on the afternoon of August 26.
13. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Harassed
Officers from the Yong’an Police Station and members of the Nandajie Community Management Office broke into Mr. Wu Zonglun’s home and harassed him on August 1, 2023. Mr. Wu was arrested by officers from the Yong’an Police Station when he talked to people about Falun Gong near the train station on August 29. He was detained for 15 days.
In August, officers from the police station harassed and threatened Ms. Liu Guiying. They told her that they received reports that she was talking to people about Falun Gong.
On August 18, officers from the police station broke into Mr. Zhang Jian’s home and checked around without showing their IDs. They tried to enter his bedroom but were stopped.
14. [Anlu City, Hubei Province] Ms. Liu Ping Held in Detention Center
Ms. Liu Ping was arrested and taken into custody on August 11, 2023. Domestic Security officers told her family that she would be detained until August 25. They went to her home in two police cars. They picked the lock and searched the place.
On August 25, Ms. Liu’s family members went to the detention center to pick her up. They did not see her. The police told the detention center to not allow her family to see her.
15. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yang Xueqin Arrested
Ms. Yang Xueqin talked to people about Falun Gong on the street around 9:30 a.m. on August 19, 2023. She was not aware that one person a few yards ahead of her was a female plainclothes officer, who videotaped the scene with her cell phone.
When Ms. Yang got to the gate of the police department, five or six officers received phone calls and arrested Ms. Yang. They took her to the Chengxi Police Station for interrogation. Six officers pulled her arms, held her head down, and tried to force her to sign and fingerprint some paperwork. Ms. Yang refused to sign anything. At 2 p.m. that afternoon, Ms. Yang was taken home by her daughter. Her arms were sore for several days.
16. [Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Duanhui Arrested
Ms. Liu Duanhui, who is nearly 70 years old, is from Qianjin Farm in the Jiansanjiang area. On August 21, 2023, officers from the Qinghe Police Station on Jiansanjiang No. 853 Farm, Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province went to Dalian City, Liaoning Province, and brought her back to Heilongjiang Province. She was abused and injured while she was detained, and the local detention center refused to accept her due to her condition. It is not clear where Ms. Liu is currently being held.
