(Minghui.org) An older woman in Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province was greeted with a savage beating after she was taken to a detention center for her faith in Falun Gong. The guards then handcuffed and shackled her for a whole week.
Ms. Jia Ying, around 60, took up Falun Gong in July 2007 and credits the practice for restoring her health and teaching her how to be a good person. Having had positive experiences with Falun Gong, she distributed informational materials to debunk the lies against the practice perpetuated by the Chinese Communist Party.
More than one dozen officers from the Hujiamiao Police Station in Xincheng District, Xi’an City broke into Ms. Jia’s home on May 5, 2023 and confiscated her Falun Gong books. They targeted her after spotting her distributing Falun Gong informational materials from their surveillance cameras.
The police took Ms. Jia to the police station before transferring her to the Changlepo Detention Center later that day.
On her arrival at the detention center, several guards took Ms. Jia to a small room and beat her savagely. They then handcuffed and shackled her, with the handcuffs and shackles linked together (see image below). They didn’t remove the handcuffs and shackles until one week later.
