(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 22 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
1. [Chongqing] Ms. Liu Guibi Sentenced to One Year in Prison

1. [Chongqing] Ms. Liu Guibi Sentenced to One Year in Prison
Ms. Liu Guibi, 81, lives in Wanshouqiao Village, Shuitu Town, Beipei District. She was reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong in Jingguan Town and was arrested by officers from the Jingquan Town Police Station on February 16, 2023. Her home was ransacked. She was placed under residential surveillance.
Ms. Liu’s case was submitted to the Beipei District Procuratorate on April 18, 2023 and was later transferred to the Jiangbei District Procuratorate on April 26, 2023. She was tried in the Jiangbei District Court on July 4, 2023 and was sentenced to six months in prison.
Ms. Liu was tried again on August 25, 2023. She was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 3000 yuan.
2. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Ms. Chen Yuhua Arrested
Ms. Chen Yuhua, 80, was summoned to the Xinhe Police Station by Officer Wang on July 24, 2023. She has not returned home since then.
3. [Dingxing County, Hebei Province] Mr. Fan Sheng and His Son Fan Weimin Arrested and Detained
Mr. Fan Shen and his son Mr. Fan Weimin were arrested at their home in Henei Village, Gaoli Township by three officers at 11 a.m. on August 24, 2023. The police ransacked their home and confiscated several Falun Gong books and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder. Both father and the son are held in the Dagou Detention House.
4. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] The Case Against Jiang Chunlin Submitted to the Procuratorate
Jiang Chunlin was arrested on May 9, 2023 and was taken to the Pudong Detention Center the next day. Jiang’s case was submitted to the Bei District Procuratorate on August 16, 2023.
5. [Leshan City, Sichuan Province] The Case Against Ms. Li Houpei Submitted to the Procuratorate
Ms. Li Houpei was arrested on February 18, 2022 when she distributed information about Falun Gong. She was arrested at her home again in May 2023. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books. She was released later that day. Her case was recently submitted to the procuratorate.
Ms. Li was arrested in her son’s home in Beijing in June 2007 because she practiced Falun Gong. She was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
6. [Huai’an City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Lin Fengying Arrested and Detained
Ms. Lin Fengying, 70, was arrested on August 23, 2023 and taken to the Huan’an City Detention Center.
7. [Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Duanhui Arrested and Detained
Ms. Liu Duanhui from Qianjin Farm in Jiansanjiang, 68, was arrested in Dalian City on August 19, 2023. She was escorted back to Shuanyashan City. The police tried to take her to the Shuangyashan City Detention Center but she was denied admission because of her high blood pressure and high blood lipids. Ms. Liu is detained in the Qinghe Police Station. Her family has not been allowed to visit her.
8. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Huang Huaiqin Framed
Ms. Huang Huaiqin from Xinjin District was arrested by officers from the Qionglai City Police Department and her home was ransacked on September 5, 2022. She was released on bail pending trial around midnight that day. The Qionglai Police Department is now trying to submit her case to the Qionglai Procuratorate.
9. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Dong Lijun Harassed
Ms. Dong Lijun was harassed at home by officer Zhao from the Gejia Township Police Station on the afternoon of August 25, 2023. After Ms. Dong refused to open the door, more officers were called in. They forcefully broke in and confiscated all her Falun Gong books and truth clarifying materials. Because Ms. Dong’s family strongly objected, they did not take Ms. Dong away but told her to go to the county police department on August 28, 2023.
10. [Tieling City, Liaoning Province] Ten Practitioners Arrested
Ten Practitioners from Changtu County were arrested in May 2023. Seven practitioners are still detained including Sun Wanliang, Zhao Chunlin, Shi Guimin, Zhao Hongjie, Meng Guilan, Tian Wei, Hu Fengjun, and Zhang Chao.
Zhang Chao is held in the Siping Detention Center. Liu Zhiyong and Wang Fei were released. Sun Wanliang’s rib was broken when Sun was beaten.
11. [Ning’an City, Heilongjiang Province] The Case Against Ms. Chen Xueyan Submitted to the Procuratorate
The case against Ms. Chen Xueyan was submitted to the Hailin Procuratorate
12. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Ju Wenyan Harassed
Ms. Ju Wenyan was harassed at home by officers including Liu Yuhui from the Xinmin Police Station in Hulan District on the morning of August 23, 2023. They warned Ms. Ju not to go out to tell people about Falun Gong.
