(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 16 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
1. [Nanchong City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Deng Guojun Faces Trial
2. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Jiang Zhaoying Faces Trial
3. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Zhou Guixiang Formally Arrested
4. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zheng Sizhi Arrested
5. [Nong’an County, Jilin Province] Ma Zhanhua Detained
6. [Shanghai] Ms. Shi Qunying and an Elderly Practitioner Detained
7. [Yan’an City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Li Shulian Arrested
8. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Hu Yaping Detained
1. [Nanchong City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Deng Guojun Faces Trial
The Gaoping District Court plans to place Ms. Deng Guojun on trial on January 8, 2024, at 3:00 p.m.
According to Minghui.org, at least seven Nanchong City practitioners were sentenced in 2023. Ms. Chen Ping, 48, was sentenced to two years in prison; Ms, Zhao Changbi, 69, was sentenced to two years; Ms. Gao Zhijun, 53, was sentenced to three years; Ms. Ling Junhui, in her 70s, was sentenced to three and a half years; Ms. Li Yuhua, in her 70s, was sentenced to three years; Ms. Hu Guoxiu, 70, was sentenced to two years; Ms. Cao Yunqing, 68, was sentenced to 16 months, but the term was suspended.
2. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Jiang Zhaoying Faces Trial
Ms. Jiang Zhaoying, 71, of Luyang District, was arrested in early December 2023. Her case was submitted to the Shushan District Court.
3. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Zhou Guixiang Formally Arrested
Ms. Zhou Guixiang, 77, was formally arrested on August 23, 2023. She was sent to the Guiyang Women’s Detention Center that day.
She was arrested by officers from the Dayingpo Police Station on May 27, 2022, after someone reported her for distributing Falun Gong flyers. She was taken to the Yunyan District Police Department for interrogation and was released on bail due to the pandemic.
She was interrogated again on March 10, 2023, and August 12, 2023.
4. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zheng Sizhi Arrested
Ms. Zheng Sizhi was arrested at home on January 5, 2024.
5. [Nong’an County, Jilin Province] Ma Zhanhua Detained
Ma Zhanhua of Kai’an Town, gender unknown, was arrested at home by officers from the Nong’an County Domestic Security Division at noon on December 28, 2023. The officers ransacked the place and seized Falun Gong books, keepsakes, and other items.
Ma was detained in the Nong’an County Detention Center for five days before being transferred to the Nong’an County Detention House on January 2, 2024.
6. [Shanghai] Ms. Shi Qunying and an Elderly Practitioner Detained
Ms. Shi Qunying of Pudong District and an elderly practitioner (gender unknown) were arrested in Zhangmiao Neighborhood, Baoshan District on November 8, 2023, after someone reported them when they talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. They are being held in the Baoshan Detention Center.
7. [Yan’an City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Li Shulian Arrested
Ms. Li Shulian, 65, was carried away from her sickbed at home by officers from the Yuyang Police Department and the Yan’an City Police Department on January 3, 2024. She was weak, and could not stand, walk, or take care of herself.
She was arrested on December 15, 2019, and put into the Yulin Detention Center by officers from the Yuyang Police Department and Yan’an City’s Baota Police Department. The detention center notified her family to bail her out after she was unable to stand or walk, completely lost control of her urine and bowels, had breathing difficulty, was in and out of consciousness, and lost her memory.
8. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Hu Yaping Detained
Ms. Hu Yaping, 60, from the Dongxihu District, was arrested on December 26, 2023, when she was distributing Falun Gong flyers in a Dongxihu District neighborhood. She was taken to the Wujiashan Street Police Station, and the police ransacked her home. She was sent to the Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center for 10 days of administrative detention on December 27. When she was released on January 6, 2024, police said they would put her in a brainwashing center.
