Sharing about Our Fa-Memorizing Group

(Minghui.org) I started trying to memorize Zhuan Falun over a decade ago, but failed many times because I couldn’t persist and was slow to memorize the Fa. I talked about this idea at our local Fa study in October 2022 and five of us formed a Fa-memorizing group. We stipulated that we would memorize seven pages every week by memorizing one page every day. When we go to the Fa study group, everyone will recite the seven pages in turn. If there are mistakes during memorization, we will correct them. If someone can’t memorize all seven pages, they can read from the book.

Master said,

“I’m just giving you the idea. They said: “Why don’t we memorize something that’s this good? It requires us to be good people at every moment among everyday people and it enables us to improve, wouldn’t it be better if we could memorize it? Then we’ll have something we can measure ourselves against at every moment.” That’s how they started a “book-memorizing upsurge.”” (Suggestions Given at the Beijing Falun Dafa Assistants’ Meeting, Further Discussions on Falun Dafa)

“In Changchun there are now more than ten thousand people memorizing the book. What’s the situation with their Fa-study now? They sit down and start to study, and they don’t need the book—one person recites from the book by memory, starting from the beginning, then he stops and another person continues to recite, without making a mistake, and not one single word is recited wrong as they continue to recite.” (Suggestions Given at the Beijing Falun Dafa Assistants’ Meeting, Further Discussions on Falun Dafa)

Of the five practitioners in our Fa-memorizing group, two are in their fifties, two are in their sixties, and one is an elderly practitioner in her eighties.

I didn’t expect that two of the fellow practitioners would be able to memorize seven pages almost every week. Their voices are calm, just like reading, and they don’t miss or add any words. I am very grateful to Master for this cultivation environment that has allowed me to see my gaps.

Through memorizing the Fa, I have found many human attachments in myself, such as the attachment to comfort, fear of difficulties, looking for shortcuts, the human notion that my brain is slow, and so on. When I recite the Fa with the group, I sometimes have unhealthy thoughts that it is like a test or a tribulation, or I feel envious of fellow practitioners who are good at memorizing the Fa.

What I have felt most since I started participating in this Fa-memorizing group was that I have never had the slightest thought of giving up, no matter what kind of difficulties I have encountered, no matter how busy I became, or when I couldn’t continue memorizing the Fa.

The 80-year-old fellow practitioner often says that she is slow and can’t remember one page of the Fa, even after memorizing it for two hours. It’s the same for me. I sometimes repeated a sentence more than ten times, but when I thought about what I had just read, I couldn’t remember it at all. I later understood that my thought karma had blocked me. If I persist at memorizing the Fa, the thought karma will be eliminated.

I have learned to repeat Master’s teaching when I couldn’t memorize the Fa. Master said,

“When it’s difficult to endure, you can endure it. When it’s impossible to do, you can do it.” (Lecture Nine, Zhuan Falun)

On August 25 this year, our Fa-memorizing group finished memorizing Zhuan Falun for the first time and immediately started memorizing it the second time. Memorizing the Fa has made my mind calm and tranquil. While practicing the fifth set of exercises, I could calm down and feel the beauty of meditation.

I often have to memorize the Fa for one to two hours after sending forth righteous thoughts at midnight, but I don’t feel sleepy during the day.

I also enlightened that I must respect Master and the Fa, because every word and every sentence is a heavenly secret and a compassionate gift from Master.

Master said,

“Those of our cultivators with the celestial eye open can each see that this book looks very colorful, golden, and shiny. Each word bears the image of my fashen.” (Lecture Nine, Zhuan Falun)

Only by respecting Master and the Fa can the Fa be put into one’s heart.

Master often says “Everyone knows” and “Let me tell everyone” in Zhuan Falun. I now know that I have to know and remember what Master has told me.

A practitioner joined our Fa-memorizing group this year. She said that she used to memorize the Fa by herself at home. Because she didn’t have any restrictions, if something happened she would delay her memorizing.

Another practitioner also joined our Fa-memorizing group. When she saw how well fellow practitioners had memorized the Fa, word for word, she couldn’t hold back her tears and kept saying, “I regret coming too late.”
