(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 23 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Beijing] Yu Xuelan Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison

Yu Xuelan of Fengtai District, gender unknown, was sentenced to 18 months in prison by the Fengtai District Court around early July 2024. As Yu failed to pass the physical exam for prison admission, he or she was allowed to serve time outside of prison.

2. [Tieling City, Liaoning Province] Wu Bo Faces Indictment

Wu Bo’s case was submitted to the Changtu County Procuratorate on September 3, 2024.

3. [Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Xu Jirong Formally Arrested

Ms. Xu Jirong, in her 70s, was tailed by the police in May 2024 when she was distributing Falun Gong flyers in the Donghu scenic area. She was arrested. Her home was ransacked. She was formally arrested in August 2024. Before her latest arrest, she previously served seven years for practicing Falun Gong.

4. [Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Xu Siqiang Tried in Court

Mr. Xu Siqiang was tried by a court in Weishan County on September 18, 2024. His family hired a lawyer for him. The judge adjourned the session without announcing the verdict.

5. [Changling County, Jilin Province] Ms. Chu Zhanfeng and Ms. Gao Fengmei Harassed

Ms. Chu Zhanfeng, 61, faced repeated harassment after she was released on April 30, 2021, after serving a 4.5-year prison term, especially by officers from Dongbei Street Police Station. On July 26, 2024, officer Pei Yuanqing of the Changling County Domestic Security Division led six officers to her home, trying to arrest her. She escaped when they were ransacking her place. She has since been forced to live away from home to avoid further persecution.

Ms. Gao Fengmei, 61, was repeatedly harassed, too. She was unable to find a job locally and has been forced to live away from home as well. 

6. [Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Xia and Two Other Practitioners Harassed

Ms. Liu Xia received a harassing call from Tiebei Residential District on September 14, 2024. Four days later on September 18, two officers from the Shengli Police Station knocked on her door. She refused to open the door for them.

The officers then went to Ms. Zhou Fenglan’s home. They questioned her if she still practiced Falun Gong or had Falun Gong flyers. They ordered her not to contact other practitioners. They tried to take photos of her but she didn't let them. 

The officers harassed Ms. Chen Derong at home on September 19, 2024, and took photos of her against her will. 

7. [Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Wu Qiuqin Harassed

Ms. Wu Qiuqin has been under 24-hour surveillance since September 2023 by people hired by the 610 Office, Hudai Police Station, and Comprehensive Management Office. A 21-year-old individual from Henan province named Yang Fan has been living outside of the elevator near her apartment unit since April 2024, which caused tremendous trouble to her and her neighbors. Yang started to wear a recording device on September 10, 2024, and he demanded to talk to Ms. Wu face to face in order to record her. Ms. Wu also noticed a car outside of her apartment building, with police officer Sun Qinger and another officer sitting inside.

8. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

Mr. He Yixing, Ms. Sun Lixiang, and Guo (first name and gender unknown), were harassed by Diaoyutai Police Station officers in August 2024. They ordered the practitioners to fill out a form and answer the question if they still practice Falun Gong.

9. [Chenzhou City, Hunan Province] Four Practitioners Detained

Ms. Liu Jinhua, Ms. Li Qun’e, and Ms. Li Quifengn, of Yongxing County, are being held in Chenzhou City Detention Center. Mr. Xu Yunyan is being held in Yongxing County Detention Center.

10. [Beijing] Six Practitioners Arrested

Six practitioners, including Ms. Zhang Xiuping, in her 60s, Ms. Tang Xiaojun, in her 50s, Ms. Ji Guxia, 55, Ms. Li Xiurong, 79, Ms. Gao Yuling, around 60, and a practitioner whose name wasn’t known, of Pinggu District, were arrested by Donggao Village Police Station officers between late April and early May 2024. Ms. Li was released nine days later after she developed a physical condition in custody. Ms. Gao has also been released.
