On November 27, 2024, Ms. An Shunlian received a notice to appear in the Xishan District Court on December 4, 2024. She refused to go, insisting that she didn’t violate any law by practicing Falun Gong.

Ms. Lu Guihuan, 75, of Dingxing County was arrested on August 12, 2024, by six officers from the Dingxing Domestic Security Division and Luxi Police Station. They ransacked her home and confiscated many Falun Gong books. She was interrogated at the police station for several hours before she was released.
Her arrest was triggered by a cake she ordered on May 12, 2024, which was written with the words “Happy Birthday, Master.” (Translator’s note: May 13 is the birthday of Falun Gong’s founder and also the World Falun Dafa Day. Unable to celebrate this day openly in China due to the persecution, practitioners often order cake or have private gatherings for celebration.) The cake shop worker posted the cake’s photo online, which was noticed by the police and led to Ms. Lu’s arrest months later.
