(Minghui.org) Minghui.org recently confirmed that a Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, resident, was arrested on May 19, 2023 for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Yang Yifan’s family did not receive any information about his case from the police following his arrest. They recently learned that he is held at cell 905 in Chengdu City Detention Center. Other details about his case still aren’t clear.
Mr. Yang, in his 50s and a former employee of the Aerospace 7111 Plant, has been targeted multiple times for practicing Falun Gong since the onset of the persecution. He was reported for talking to his coworkers about Falun Gong in March 2008, and was forced to live away from home on April 1, 2008 to avoid being arrested. While he was in hiding, his workplace fired him; his wife was forced to divorce him and she was given sole custody of their son.
Mr. Yang was arrested on October 13, 2012 by Jiang Mingquan and other officers of the Anyue County Domestic Security Division. He was taken to the Erehu Brainwashing Center. When his father, Mr. Yang Jianzhong, found out about his detention three months later, he went to the brainwashing center to demand his release, only to be threatened with arrest himself.
The elder Mr. Yang, a nationally-acclaimed aerospace engineer, and his wife, Ms. Bai Qunfang, have also been arrested and detained in brainwashing centers for practicing in Falun Gong in the past two decades. See the related reports below for information about their persecution.
