(Minghui.org) Ms. Yang Meihua, 69, from Qingdao City, Shandong Province, was sentenced to one year and four months for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Ms. Yang was arrested on July 18, 2024, after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. The police raided her home and also stayed outside her home for a while in an attempt to arrest other practitioners who might visit her.
Ms. Yang was issued a formal arrest warrant three days later and transferred to the Qingdao City Detention Center (located in Pudong Town, Jimo District). The Chengyang District Court sentenced her to one year and four months on an unknown date. Other details of her trial remain to be investigated.
Ms. Yang took up Falun Gong in 2004 and in about one month she recovered from her numerous ailments, including gynecological diseases, childbirth complications (her second baby was breech, after which she had hemorrhaged), digestive issues, heart disease, frozen shoulder, and insomnia. She was able to eat and sleep well from then on. With more energy, she could do household chores again.
Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, also taught Ms. Yang to be a more considerate person. She no longer felt resentment when her husband threw a fit at her after returning home from heavy drinking. She got along well with his parents and siblings. After her parents-in-law passed away, her brother-in-law took all their money but it did not bother her.
Because of her positive experience with Falun Gong, Ms. Yang used various ways to tell people the persecution was illegal. However, she was arrested and sentenced.
