(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 25 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Lu Haihong and Jiang Guirong (genders unknown) went to the Tangyuan County seat to deliver information about Falun Gong on the afternoon of April 8, 2023. They were arrested by officers from the Dongcheng Police Station. Their homes were ransacked by officers from the Tangyuan County Domestic Security Division, who confiscated their computers, cell phones, Falun Gong books, and printed materials.
In January 2024 it was reported that Lu was sentenced to one year in prison. The sentence was suspended for two years. Jiang became displaced.
Ms. Li Yanmin was arrested at her home by officers from the Hongqi Street Police Station on June 12, 2023. She was sentenced in October to ten months in prison by the Chaoyang District Court. She was taken to Jilin Province Women’s Prison in December.
Mr. Li Dajiu, 78, and his wife Ms. Dong Juyun, 78, will be tried by the Wanzhou District Court on February 21, 2024.
Ms. Li Qun’e from Yongxing County was arrested while talking to people about Falun Gong in Yangshi Town, Guiyang County, on the morning of January 28, 2024. She is being held in the Guiyang County Detention Center.
Li Manfu (gender unknown) from Yongxing County was arrested by officers from the Zhangshu Town Police Station while distributing Falun Gong materials and “How Humankind Came To Be,” a recent article written by the founder of Falun Gong, at the farmers market in Zhangshu Town. Li is being held in the Yongxing County Detention Center.
Ms. Wang Lei, her husband Mr. Li Peng, Mr. Shen Yuguo, Mr. Jiang Feng, and Mr. Zhang Zhong were arrested by officers from the Suifenhe City Domestic Security Division on January 18, 2024. Ms. Wang was held in the Mudanjiang City Detention Center, and the other four practitioners were taken to the Suifenhe City Detention Center.
A hearing for Ms. Miao Shuqing’s appeal case will be held in the Fushun City Detention Center, in Nangou, at 1:30 p.m. on February 6, 2024.
It was recently reported that on the morning of December 13, 2023 officers from the Gulin County Police Department, the Dongcheng Police Station, and community personnel arrested six practitioners at a practitioner’s home. The practitioners were Luo Zhenghui, Zhu Zongrong, Yu Ganggui, Mou Zequn, Wang, and Mr. Yu Changwen. They are all in their sixties or seventies.
The officers body-searched Zhu Zongrong, Yu Changwen, and Yu Ganggui, and rummaged through their bags. The three practitioners were taken to the Dongcheng Police Station for registration and to undergo physical examinations. That afternoon, they were locked up in separate rooms for questioning, and the entire process was videotaped. That night the officers collected their personal information, recorded their voices and videotaped them, and collected their fingerprints, palm prints and footprints, including both left and right footprints.
It was not until midnight that the police notified their families to pick them up. Those who were not picked up were taken to their homes by the police.
Wang Biao (gender unknown), a teacher at Tianjiabing Experimental Middle School in Linquan County, was arrested for distributing Falun Gong materials in November 2023. Wang’s case was turned over to the procuratorate. Teachers An and Zhou of the same school, who were previously persecuted for practicing Falun Gong, were also temporarily suspended from their jobs and held in a brainwashing center for a month.
Three people from the Linquan County Political and Legal Affairs Committee, the Linquan County Police Department, and the Chengdong Sub-district Administration Office went to the Shangzhen Middle School in Feidong County, where Mr. Zhou Sheng worked. They ordered him to write three statements renouncing Falun Gong. He refused. School officials dismissed him a week later without providing financial compensation.
Ms. Wu Yunfeng from Qiannanhe Village, Yingli Town, was reported to the police when she talked to people about Falun Gong on September 13 and September 27, 2023. She was arrested by officer Qi Delu from the Yangkou Town Police Station and three other people. Both times, they collected blood samples from Ms. Wu, and she was released the same day.
More than twelve officers from the Domestic Security Division and the police station arrived in three vehicles at Ms. Wang Huilin’s home on November 15, 2023. They forced their way in and confiscated a photo of the founder of Falun Gong. Ms. Wang was not home.
About ten officers from the Niujie Police Station, plainclothes police, and Domestic Security Division officers in Xicheng District broke into the home of 84-year-old Ms. Guo Meiying around 3 p.m. on January 17, 2024. They claimed that she was caught on surveillance cameras while distributing Falun Gong materials. Even though they did not have a search warrant, they ransacked her home and arrested her. Ms. Guo was taken to the Xicheng District Case Handling Center. After she failed the physical examination, she was detained for five days at her home.
