(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 13 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
1. [Linjiang City, Jilin Province] Ms. Di Lianxia and Liu Zhantao Sentenced to Prison
2. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Qi Yingjun Persecuted in Prison
3. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Wu Youqing Sentenced to Six Years in Prison
4. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Wang Ying and Ms. Tao Yonghong Arrested and Detained
5. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Min Arrested and Detained
6. [Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Kou Juying and Ms. Dong Guijin Face Trial
7. [Hengyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Xia Fei Faces Trial
8. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Mr. Sun Baoyu and His Wife Ms. Zhang Fengrong Arrested
9. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Liyang Arrested
1. [Linjiang City, Jilin Province] Ms. Di Lianxia and Liu Zhantao Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Di Lianxia was arrested in August 2023. She was sentenced to six years in prison.
Liu Zhantao (gender unknown) was sentenced to ten months in prison.
2. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Qi Yingjun Persecuted in Prison
Mr. Qi Yingjun from Laiwu District has been detained in the Jinan Prison since December 20, 2023. His family received a call from the prison in mid-January 2024, saying that they should advise Mr. Qi to take medicine.
3. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Wu Youqing Sentenced to Six Years in Prison
Ms. Wu Youqing from Gaozhou City was sentenced to six years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan by the Maonan District Court on August 30, 2023. The verdict was upheld by the Maoming City Intermediate Court on December 27, 2023. Ms. Wu was sent to the No.1 Detention Center. She now has symptoms of amnesia.
4. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Wang Ying and Ms. Tao Yonghong Arrested and Detained
Ms. Wang Ying, a former engineer at the Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Ms. Tao Yonghong, were arrested by officers from the Guandu Police Station and the Maonan District Police Department on December 13, 2023 when they were visiting Ms. Wang Ying’s mother, who is in her 90s. The two practitioners were placed under official arrest on January 20, 2024 and were sent to the No. 1 Detention Center of Maoming City.
5. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Min Arrested and Detained
Ms. Zhang Min was arrested by officers in the Chongli District on the morning of January 23, 2023. Her home was ransacked. She was placed under 7-day detention.
6. [Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Kou Juying and Ms. Dong Guijin Face Trial
Two practitioners from Shilipu of Weiyang District, Ms. Kou Juying and Ms. Dong Guijin, will be tried in the Baqiao District Court on the morning of January 30, 2024.
7. [Hengyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Xia Fei Faces Trial
Ms. Xia Fei, a teacher at the College of Environmental Biology in Hengyang City, was arrested by officers including Dai Guoqing from the Xupu County Police Department on August 28, 2023. She was sent to the No. 2 Detention Center of Haikou City. Ms. Xia was scheduled to be tried in court on the afternoon of January 30, 2024.
8. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Mr. Sun Baoyu and His Wife Ms. Zhang Fengrong Arrested
Officers from the Development Zone Police Station in Yongji County went to Mr. Sun Baoyu’s home on the morning of January 18, 2024. They ransacked the place and confiscated Falun Gong books. Mr. Sun and his wife Ms. Zhang Fengrong were arrested and taken away. Mr. Sun was placed under 5-day detention and was taken to the Jilin City Detention House the next day. Ms. Zhang was denied admission due to his high blood pressure and was released that day.
9. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Liyang Arrested
Mr. Wang Liyang was arrested for filing a lawsuit against former CCP head Jiang Zemin and was released on bail pending trial. He was later sentenced to 10 months in prison.
Mr. Wang was recently arrested in Xiangyang District. The prison refused to admit him due to his poor health.
