Married Couple Arrested, Husband Still Detained

(Minghui.org) A married couple in Changchun City, Jilin Province, were arrested on February 29, 2024 for their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.

Several officers, including Guan Xianlin ([phone]), from the Jingyue Boulevard Police Station ([phone], [phone]) seized the couple from their home and confiscated their Falun Gong books and cash.

The police took the couple to the police station for interrogation before driving them to the Changchun City Detention Center. Mr. Wu Qingyuan, 72, was admitted to the detention center. His wife, also in her 70s and name unknown, failed the required physical examination and was released on bail.

Mr. Wu previously suffered from pancreatitis and other health problems. His symptoms entirely disappeared after he took up Falun Gong in 1996. He has been repeatedly targeted since the persecution began in 1999. Prior to his latest arrest, he was given two forced labor terms, and his home was raided four other times.
