(Minghui.org) Ms. Cui Rong from Dengta City, Liaoning Province has been continually abused since she was admitted to prison eight months ago to serve a 3.5-year term for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Because Ms. Cui refused to renounce her faith, she was denied family visits and was not allowed to purchase daily necessities. The prison guards also forced her to do hard labor from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., but did not give her enough food to eat.
Arrest and Sentencing
Ms. Cui was among seven Falun Gong practitioners arrested at a private home on December 8, 2021, by officers from the Liaoyang City Domestic Security Division and it subordinate, the Baita District Police Department, and the Wensheng Police Station. Liaoyang City oversees Dengta City.
The Dengta City Court held four hearings of the seven practitioners’ joint case on June 21, June 30, December 12, and December 19, 2022, before convicting five of them around May 2023. Ms. Cui was given 3.5 years, Ms. Li Ying was given 1.5 years, Mr. Zhao Juncheng was given 2 years, his wife Ms. Bao Fengzhi was given one year and 4 months, and his sister Ms. Zhao Junlan was given 3 years. Mr. Wang Cunbo and Ms. Li Peixin’s cases were returned to the police due to insufficient evidence.
Ms. Cui’s appeal was rejected by the Liaoyang City Intermediate Court in June 2023 and she was transferred to the Liaoning Province Second Women’s Prison (located in the capital city of Shenyang) on August 1, 2023.
Ms. Cui was assigned to Division Four of the prison. Guards Zhang, Lian, and Wang assigned inmate Cui Xiaojuan (no relation) to monitor Ms. Cui around the clock. They ordered her to renounce Falun Gong. When she refused, they subjected her to ongoing abuse.
