(Minghui.org) An undergraduate student studying at the Zhongshan City campus of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University was briefly detained several times and threatened with expulsion after she removed a poster smearing Falun Gong from a bulletin board. Her father was later arrested in their hometown of Xingning City in the same province and is still detained.

Ms. Xie Xiaoting saw the poster on campus on the morning of January 9, 2024. As a Falun Gong practitioner, she knew all too well that the peaceful mind-body practice was nothing like what was depicted by the communist regime’s hate propaganda. She thus tore down the poster and was recorded by the surveillance camera.

Hours later, at around 11 a.m. that day, the Shigu Police Station contacted school leader Li Nan and counselors Cai Jinghua and Huang Sujing, notifying them to get Ms. Xie to the police station. The three school administrators deceived the college student into going there. Ms. Xie demanded to see the police’s ID's numerous times, and the officers flashed their ID's without allowing her to get a good look. They threatened to expel her from school and ordered her to write three statements to renounce Falun Gong. She refused to comply.

While Ms. Xie was being interrogated, another group of officers raided her dorm and confiscated her laptop and cell phone. She was not released until past 11 p.m. that night.

At 3 p.m. on January 17, 2024, Li, Cai, and another school official deceived Ms. Xie into reporting to the Communist Party Committee’s Office on campus. They again ordered the young woman to write statements to renounce Falun Gong. She refused to comply, and they threatened to expel her. They also called in officer Li from the Shigu Police Station. Ms. Xie remained calm and explained that she took down the poster because she did not want people to be misled by the regime’s hate propaganda against Falun Gong.

Ms. Xie was not released from the office until 10 p.m. that night.

At 9 a.m. on April 24, 2024, Cai notified Ms. Xie that officer Li would like to have a talk with her. Li had promised to return her confiscated laptop and cell phone in three days, but never did. He kept pressuring her to tell him about the Falun Gong practitioners in her hometown of Xingning City.

Ms. Xie learned later that while she was being interrogated, another group of officers raided her parents’ home in Xingning. She was let go at 11 p.m. on April 24, and her father, Mr. Xie Yujun, who also practices Falun Gong, was arrested the next day and taken to the Xingning City Detention Center.

At 3 p.m. on May 8, 2024, Cai notified Ms. Xie to pick up a scholarship award certificate. She went, only to be met with two men and two women whom she had never met. Cai said the four people were psychologists unaffiliated with their university. Ms. Xie shared her experience of practicing Falun Gong and explained why the persecution lacked legal basis from the very beginning. The talk lasted three hours.

Ms. Xie’s mother was notified at 4 p.m. on May 27, 2024 that her husband had been issued a formal arrest warrant and that the local police station needed her to sign the warrant. She refused to go.

In the meantime, the Shigu Police Station and Ms. Xie’s school again demanded to have a talk with her. This time she firmly refused to meet with them, having been briefly detained and harassed many times. Her father remains detained at the time of writing. Prior to his latest persecution, Mr. Xie was previously twice given forced labor and once sentenced to prison.
