(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners held a rally in front of the Chinese Consulate in Montreal on July 16, 2024. They protested the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) 25-year-long persecution and demanded the immediate release of practitioner Cong Lanying who is being detained in China.
Rally in Front of the Chinese Consulate in Montreal on July 16, 2024
Ms. Yang, a representative of the Falun Gong group in Montreal, spoke at the rally. She said that Falun Gong is a mind-body cultivation school based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. It has amazing effects in curing diseases and improving health. Since its founder, Master Li Hongzhi, introduced it in 1992, it has been widely accepted by the public. According to the Ministry of Public Security of China, the number of people practicing Falun Gong in 1999 had reached 70 million, exceeding the number of CCP members at that time. However, out of jealousy, Jiang Zemin, the then-CCP leader, launched the persecution on July 20, 1999. Countless Falun Gong practitioners were persecuted to disability, death, and even had their organs harvested while still alive. Countless families suffered great pain and injustice.
Ms. Yang said in her speech that in June this year, the U.S. Congress passed the Falun Gong Protection Act, which imposes sanctions on those who participate in and assist in live organ harvesting in China. Canada also passed the following bill: An Act respecting and countering foreign interference. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is advancing its investigation into CCP interference in Canada. She said that heaven will destroy the CCP. She wished all Chinese people understand the truth and the officials of the Chinese Consulate would act based on their conscience, think deeply, take responsibility for their own lives and those of their families, and abandon the CCP.
At the rally, Canadian citizen Ms. Cong Xinmiao called on all sectors of society to rescue her mother Cong Lanying, who was arrested and imprisoned by the CCP police.
Canadian citizen Ms. Cong Xinmiao calls on the CCP to release her mother Cong Lanying who is imprisoned in China.
Ms. Cong said that her mother was sentenced to four years in prison simply because she wrote letters to the Chinese government at all levels, using her own personal experience, She suffered from illnesses for most of her life, and recovered after practicing Falun Gong for 18 days. She wants to tell people that Falun Gong is good and hoped that the government would stop persecuting Falun Gong. Also her mother did the Falun Dafa exercises on the square. The CCP did not even release an elderly person who is almost 80 years old. The persecution of an elderly woman is unacceptable.
In June this year, the Canadian Foreign Minister responded to the case of Cong Lanying. Ms. Cong thanked the Canadian government and kind people from all walks of life for their assistance, and at the same time advised the public security, procuratorial and judicial personnel who participated in the persecution of Falun Gong to quickly recognize the nature of the CCP, and demanded that the CCP release her immediately and unconditionally.
Practitioner Lin participating in the rally
Ms. Lin, a Falun Gong practitioner who participated in the protest, was detained in the Jilin Province Women’s Labor Camp twice, in 2002 and 2008. She said that during both detentions, she was forced to undergo a comprehensive physical examination, including blood draws, blood pressure checks, electrocardiograms, and full-body X-rays.
“This was not the physical examination when I first entered the labor camp, but was conducted during my detention,” Ms. Lin said. “Ordinary inmates were not allowed to undergo these examinations, but Falun Gong practitioners, especially those who were physically strong, had to undergo them.”
She recalled that during her health exam in 2008, a lot of blood was drawn, and during the process, several outside medical staff, for unknown reasons, kept watching. She said that the live organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners was rampant during that period, and the physical examinations were likely to be preparations for the live organ harvesting.
Before practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Lin had many health problems, such as cervical spondylosis, numbness of the left half of the body and left half of the brain, low vision of the left eye, congenital spleen enlargement, and she ate very little food. Soon after practicing Falun Gong, all these symptoms disappeared and she became healthy. Because she told people that Falun Gong is good, Ms. Lin was illegally detained by the CCP several times and held in a labor camp twice. During the persecution, she was beaten, shocked with electric batons, forced to do slave labor, and monitored.
Ms. Lin fled China and came to Canada with the help of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in 2013. She thanked the Canadian government, “When I was in trouble, you took me in and gave me an environment where I could practice my faith and live freely.”
The persecution has brought suffering to Ms. Lin’s family. Her mother was mentally traumatized by her being taken to a labor camp, and she suffered from cerebellar atrophy. She passed away. When she was taken to a labor camp for the second time in 2008, her father died of advanced laryngeal cancer, and she was not allowed to see him even one last time.
Ms. Lin finally said, “The CCP is so cruel. Some of my fellow practitioners who practiced Falun Gong with me were tortured to death at a young age. Falun Gong teaches us to be good people and follow the principles Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. Practitioners are considerate in everything they do. They are healthy, which is beneficial for the people. I come here to protest the CCP (persecution) and demand that the persecution of Falun Gong be stopped immediately, and that the detained Falun Gong practitioners be released.”
