(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 9 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Yang Yong was sentenced to two years in prison on April 24, 2024. He appealed, but the Ji’nan City Intermediate Court ruled to uphold his original verdict. He was transferred to the Shandong Province Prison on August 6, 2024.
Ms. Chen Yan from Gaoxin District was arrested at home at 7 a.m. on July 12, 2024 and taken to the Laoxiying Detention Center on the same day. Her family received her official arrest notice on August 16, 2024. Her case has been submitted to the Chengde County Procuratorate.
Ms. Du Yanhua, nearly 80, was reported for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in Fangbei Market, and was arrested by officers from the Chengguo Town Police Station in late 2023. The police ransacked her home and confiscated some articles written by the founder of Falun Gong. Her eldest daughter, who happened to be at her home during the raid, went with her to the police station. She was released that evening.
Officers from the Chengguo Town Police Station harassed Ms. Du at home on the morning of August 13, 2024. They also called her children and demanded that they persuade Ms. Du to sign her “bail release” document. One officer mentioned that they needed Ms. Du to go to the court to sign certain documents. She wasn’t sure whether she was facing a prison sentence.
Ms. Li Guiying from Lyuyuan District was arrested by officers from the Chengxi Police Station when she had just left her home on August 19, 2024.
Ms. Ning Qin, a native of Yujiang District of Yingtan City, was arrested in Jingde Town in mid-August 2024, when she went there to help care for her grandchild at her son’s home.
Mr. Xie Peizeng was arrested at his workplace in Huidong County, by six officers from Henan Province at 9 a.m. on June 24, 2024. His home was ransacked.
Ms. Wang Shuqin is currently detained in the Laishui County Lockup.
Mr. Gong Xiaohong, 64, was arrested by officers from the Yongsheng Police Station on the morning of June 16, 2024. He was detained in the Chongren County Detention Center for 13 days and released on June 29, 2024.
Ms. Li Fengying was diagnosed with lymphoma and uterine cancer while being detained in the Ji’nan Women’s Prison. Her request to be released on medical parole was denied.
