(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 7 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 14 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Xie Mingguang, 64, from Wuhan City, was arrested in Lichuan City on February 8, 2024. He was held in Lichuan City Detention Center. The Lichuan City Court originally scheduled the trial of his case on August 6, but later postponed it to August 24.
Mr. Fu Jiuliang was arrested at home by officers from Huangmei County Domestic Security Division and Zhuogang Town Police Station on August 7, 2024. He is now detained in the Huanggang City Detention Center.
Ms. Sun Lihua from Changping District was placed under residential surveillance between July 13 and 18, 2024. Two people stayed at her home, taking turns to monitor her every day. They even followed her when she used the restroom.
The lawyer hired by Mr. Zhang Xu’s family was met with hurdles when he submitted the Power of Attorney. But one month after the lawyer submitted all of the additional documents requested by judge Wang Yihan of Lishan Court (which weren’t required for non-Falun Gong cases), he still has not received approval to represent Mr. Zhang.
Ms. Chen Guizhi, in her 60s, and Ms. Wan Songhua, in her 70s, went to a farmers market on July 29, 2024. They were followed by plainclothes officers from the Wanjia Police Station and arrested. The officers ransacked their homes. Due to Ms. Wan’s strong protest, the police didn’t take her Falun Gong books. But Ms. Chen’s Falun Gong books, Minghui Weekly, and other personal items were confiscated. The two practitioners were released that night.
Ms. Shi Zhipei from Jiutai District was arrested in early August 2024 and detained for 15 days. She has been released at the time of writing.
Ms. Xu Jianqun, in her 80s, was arrested and taken to East Fangcao Street Police Station in the High-tech Zone on September 17, 2021. The police released her on bail after interrogating her. It was recently confirmed by Minghui.org that she had been sentenced to three years in prison, to be served outside of prison. Details about her indictment and trial aren’t clear.
Ms. Liu Manxia, 52, from Yuelu District, was arrested by five officers from the Xihu Police Station on July 21, 2024. Her cell phone was confiscated. She was forcibly taken to the police station, handcuffed to a stool, and not allowed to go to the restroom. At noon, she was transferred to Yuelu District Police Department for interrogation. The police took her photo and collected her footprints, fingerprints, and blood samples. She was admitted to the Wangcheng Lockup at around 11 p.m for 10 days of detention. She has been released at the time of writing.
At around 7 a.m. on July 21, 2024, Ms. Yang Hong, 68, from Muyun City, was arrested by four or five officers from Yuelu District Police Department while she was working in a residential community. She was taken to the police department for interrogation and had her photos taken. After passing the physical examination, she was taken to the Wangcheng Detention Center at around 11 p.m. for 15 days of detention. She has been released at the time of writing.
Ms. Yang Yuhua was arrested by the Chengxi Police Station at the end of July 2024. Her home was ransacked. She is being held in Weifang City Detention Center.
Ms. Wang Sulan from Wanxin Area, Dongzhou District, was talking to people about Falun Gong at the Laohutai Farmers Market at around 8 a.m. on August 19, 2024. She was arrested and taken to the Laohutai Police Station. Her home was also ransacked. During the physical examination, her systolic blood pressure was over 200 mmHg. Although the officers released, they did not allow her to leave home and threatened to sentence her to three years in prison or suspend her pension.
Officers from the Chengguo Police Station in Laizhou City harassed Ms. Du Yanhua, nearly 80, at her home on the morning of August 13, 2024. They ordered her to sign bail papers and go to the court to sign additional paperwork.
Ms. Xiao Meilian, 63, was arrested and taken to the police station in early June 2024. She was forced to sit on a tiger bench for two hours. Her home was ransacked and all her Falun Gong books were confiscated. She was released shortly after.
Later on, Ms. Xiao went to the 610 Office and demanded the officers to return her Falun Gong books. She was arrested instead and detained at the Youhao Hospital for 45 days. During this period, she was injected and force-fed with unknown toxic drugs. The police did not notify her family of her arrest or detention. It took tremendous efforts for her family to find her. Her husband was forced to write several statements on her behalf to renounce Falun Gong, before the authorities agreed to release her.
