[Newly Translated Older Death Case] Hebei Man in His 70s Dies in 2014

A Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province, resident died not long after a brief detention for his faith in Falun Gong.

Mr. Liu Baozhi, a former employee of Huabei Aluminum Factory, was arrested on the night of February 25, 2014. He was released hours later and died not long afterwards. He was in his 70s.

Prior to this, Mr. Liu thwarted an arrest attempt on September 17, 2001, and went into hiding. The police arrested his son instead and shocked the younger man with electric batons.

Mr. Liu was put on the wanted list. The police promised a 5,000-yuan reward to anyone who reported on him. They also garnished 55,000 yuan from his pension account.

Mr. Liu continued to moved frequently for the next six years and returned home in 2007, only to be arrested again in 2014.
