Pure Lotuses in a Turbid World

“You can count on people who practice Falun Dafa!”

There was a hotel in my area that included a tea house. The tea house owner was also the leader of an important county state-run enterprise and had extensive connections. Business at the tea house was thus very good, and they needed to purchase a lot of groceries each day. The owner’s younger brother and sister-in-law were in charge of procurement. However, they withheld over 50 yuan from the daily allocation for themselves. The owner’s wife was aware of this, but she couldn’t bring herself to do it. After a while, even the owner couldn’t stand it any longer.

Upon hearing about it, a friend of the owner told him, “Why don’t you hire a person who practices Falun Dafa, and have her buy the groceries and cook for you? Then these things certainly won’t happen.”

The owner asked, “Are they reliable? My own brother even does this to me.”

His friend replied, “Let me tell you, in today’s society, you can’t even rely on relatives or friends, but you can count on people who practice Falun Dafa!”

The owner still wondered, “Is that for real?”

The friend said, “It’s because they practice Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. If you don’t believe it, hire one to work for you, and you will see it yourself.”

The owner then hired a Dafa practitioner, Ms. Li (alias), who was referred by his friend, to work in his tea house. The boss entrusted her with all the tasks of grocery shopping and cooking. At first, the owner was still a little worried, but when he saw that the dishes on the table were more plentiful than before, that they were delicious and flavorful, and that the customers were more satisfied, the boss was relieved.

A few years later, with a decline in the economy, the tea house business also declined. One day, when the boss gave Ms. Li her salary, he said with an embarrassing smile, “Business is really tough these days. What are we going to do in the future?”

After this practitioner accepted her 3,000 yuan pay, she took out 1,000 yuan and gave it back to the owner. She said, “It’s tough to do business in any industry these days. Here’s 1,000 yuan back. If you ever don’t need me to work here anymore, I’ll quit and find another job.”

The boss was moved by Ms. Li’s kindness and tolerance. He immediately smiled and said, “If my tea house ever goes out of business, I hope you can come to my house to help me cook. I’ve decided to be your friend.”

This owner truly came to understand that the defamation of Falun Dafa by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was all lies intended to deceive people. He thus decided to quit every CCP organization he had joined, choosing a bright future for himself.

“Your dad is also a victim”

Ms. Fen’s husband was in management at a rural, state-run company. In today’s China, with its dazzling lights and widespread corruption, men and women who don’t have affairs are often considered incompetent. Ms. Fen’s husband was no exception. When he asked Ms. Fen (a Dafa practitioner) for a divorce, she refused. Her son, however, said, “Mom, Dad wants a divorce, so just go along with it. Don’t let him make you suffer.”

She calmly told her son, “Actually, your dad is also a victim in this situation.”

Her son couldn’t believe his mother would say such a thing, and asked, “Dad betrayed you. You’re the victim. How is he a victim?”

She replied, “It is because your dad was misled by atheism, and atheism ruined him. If your dad believed in God, he wouldn’t have done this. Doing such a thing is a grave sin. Therefore, your dad is a victim. I don’t want to divorce your dad because I don’t want you to grow up in a single-parent family. A happy family of three people is best for you.”

The son was deeply moved by what his mother said, and asked, “So how are you going to handle this?”

She replied, “I’ll handle it by following what my Master has taught me, which is Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”

Ms. Fen invited the other woman out for tea, and she calmly and kindly advised her, “My husband and I have a very good relationship in the eyes of our colleagues, relatives, and friends. Everyone knows that my husband loves me very much. You’re only in his life now because you’re young. If you really want to be with my husband, I can tell you, in the near future, it will be you who is in this situation. It’s because you won’t be young forever. Besides, after you divorce your husband, how will your child see you? And after a certain time, if my husband leaves you, how will you face your husband and your child then?”

But Ms. Fen’s heartfelt words didn’t awaken the other woman. The second time Ms. Fen met with the other woman, she brought her husband along. In front of her husband, she said to the other woman, “If your relationship has truly reached the point of no return, I am willing to step aside and let you two be together.”

At this point, Ms. Fen’s husband said to the other woman, “I was just playing around with you.” Then he turned around and left.

The other woman sat there, tears streaming down her face, staring at Ms. Fen. Ms. Fen, who was also caught off guard by her husband’s words, said to her, “My little sister, don’t be sad. I hope you can wake up. It’s fortunate that you haven’t divorced your husband yet. Do not sink into moral decline along with society. Take good care of your child and give the child a warm family.”

After hearing this, the other woman said, “My sister, I’m so sorry. The last time you advised me, I didn’t believe you. Today, he said himself that he was just playing around with me, and I finally understand. Thank you for your magnanimity. You didn’t curse me, or fight with me, and you didn’t make this public. I’m truly grateful to you.”

Ms. Fen responded, “My sister, if you want to thank someone, please thank the founder of Falun Dafa, Mr. Li Hongzhi. It’s my Master who taught me to be a good person by following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”

Ms. Fen clarified the truth about Dafa to that woman, and told her to remember the auspicious phrases, “Falun Dafa is good!” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” Ms. Fen also told her that one could ensure one’s safety if they quit the CCP and its affiliates. The woman decided to quit.

Since then, Ms. Fen’s husband has truly stopped seeing the other woman. Now Ms. Fen has a large family with many children and grandchildren, and they live a harmonious and happy life together. During those few years when the CCP persecuted Dafa most severely, her husband’s manager pressured him to divorce her, threatening that he would be fired if he didn’t. Her husband said, “I can quit my job, but it’s hard to find another wife as good as her.”

“I met a really kind person today”

Ms. Zheng works part-time as a real estate agent. A few years ago, a homeowner asked Ms. Zheng to help her sell her father-in-law’s condo. The homeowner wanted to set the price at around 80,000 to 90,000 yuan, and Ms. Zheng thought that was reasonable. The condo’s location and the floor it was on were good, so Ms. Zheng agreed to help her sell it.

On the way home, Ms. Zheng ran into Ms. Bian and told her about the condo and its price. Ms. Bian said she wanted to buy a property and asked Zheng to take her to see it. Ms. Bian thought the condo was great, so she called her husband to come look at it. Her husband also thought it was great after seeing it.

Just as they were about to buy the condo, the homeowner suddenly changed her mind and bumped the price up to 120,000 yuan. Ms. Bian and her husband discussed it and agreed to the higher price. Later, the homeowner asked Ms. Bian to pay 100,000 yuan upfront. The next day, Ms. Bian went to the bank, withdrew all their money from an account that hadn’t matured yet, then borrowed some money from relatives, gave all the money to the homeowner, and signed the contract. The remaining 20,000 yuan would be paid after the transfer of ownership.

On the third day, Ms. Zheng, Ms. Bian, and her husband went to the property registration office to complete the transfer. The homeowner and her husband were there and said they couldn’t sell the condo. The homeowner cried, saying, “This condo belongs to my father-in-law. My husband has several sisters. Yesterday, when I told them I was selling it, they got very upset. We ended up in a fight, and they said they would kill me if I were to let the contract go through.”

Ms. Zheng said to Ms. Bian’s husband, “We practice Falun Dafa, so we shouldn’t put the homeowner in a difficult position.” Ms. Bian’s husband was very kind and replied, “Okay, please have the homeowner return the money to us.”

Ms. Zheng then said to the homeowner, “She practices Dafa and is willing to back down. Please return the money she gave you yesterday.”

The homeowner was shocked, because according to the contract, if the homeowner backed out of the sale midway, the down payment would be doubled and paid to the buyer, especially since the buyer had paid 100,000 yuan. The homeowner, with tears in her eyes, told Ms. Bian, “I met a really kind person today, otherwise my husband’s sisters would never have let me off the hook.”

Ms. Bian told the homeowner that the reason she could handle it this way was because she practiced Falun Dafa, and it was her Master who taught her to be a good person by following Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. When the homeowner heard this, she asked Ms. Bian, “So what the media said on TV about how they set themselves on fire, was it fake?”

Ms. Bian told her that the “Self-immolation on Tiananmen Square” was orchestrated by former CCP leader Jiang Zemin for the purpose of defaming Dafa and persecuting practitioners. She also pointed out several suspicious details in the video to the homeowner, such as how the person who was supposedly doused with gasoline and suffered burns on over 90% of the body, still had his hair intact. Also, the person who drank gasoline and was in a semi-conscious state while being treated in the hospital, was able to answer questions fluently on a “Focus Interview” program, and the Sprite bottle remained intact after supposedly being burned in the fire, which seemed utterly unbelievable!

After the homeowner heard that, she nodded her head, “It turns out that it really was fake.”

Ms. Bian told her that by quitting the CCP, one can ensure one’s safety. The homeowner gladly took her up on that.

The homeowner lamented that in Chinese society today, even siblings, spouses, and parents can turn against each other for personal gain. However, practitioners can let go of self-interest. The homeowner was extremely grateful and repeatedly said to Ms. Bian, “Thank you, so much!”

Ms. Bian replied, “Please thank my Master instead.”

The homeowner responded, “Thank you, to your Master!”
