Repairman Witnesses an Amazing Change

(Minghui.org) I began cultivating in Falun Dafa in spring 1998. Things that happened during an earlier time made me once again feel the benevolence of Master and also let many sentient beings witness the miraculous nature of Dafa.

My house’s wash basin, which was directly connected to the water source, was made of ceramic material. A careless move more than a decade ago damaged a corner of the basin. As I was illegally detained in prison by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for a total of 15 years and was deprived of the opportunity for pension increase for 15 years, my income was limited, so I decided to continue using the broken basin.

My family decided to change the basin to a stainless steel one in the summer of 2022. We asked Mr. Tian, a handyman, to help us with the installation of the new basin. Mr. Tian helped us buy a stainless steel basin and installed it onto a metal frame with a wooden platform on top. However, the wooden platform grew moldy over time from getting wet, so we asked Mr. Tian to change it to a marble platform.

Mr. Tian thus brought a marble slab of 70 by 50 centimeters and two centimeters thick. However, while he installed the cut slab, he discovered that the right edge of the slab was cut slanted and it got worse down the edge. It was two centimeters narrower at the other end and the metal frame below the slab thus became visible. When Mr. Tian discovered this problem, he apologized and said, “Oh no, the slab was cut slanted!”

At that time, the first thought that came into my mind was that I am a Falun Dafa practitioner, so I must abide by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. Whenever I run into an issue, I must first think of how it would affect others. With that, I thought that Mr. Tian was already over 70 years old and was still working to make a living like that. He had to carry such a heavy slab up five stories, which is a daunting task. At the same time, I also understood that this kind of error could not be resolved easily. Therefore, I consoled him and said, “No problem. This is good enough!”

The next day, when I saw this imperfect marble slab, a slight regret crossed my mind. However, for the whole of the third day I seemed to have forgotten about this matter. It was as though nothing had happened. On the fourth day, when I got up to wash up before the morning exercises, I discovered that the defect in the marble slab had disappeared. The steel frame was no longer visible. What I saw was a rectangular and perfect piece of marble slab in front of me. I was stunned by this amazing change. Before long, I calmed down and understood that benevolent Master had corrected the defect in the slab. Therefore, I kept saying, “Thank you, Master! Thank you, Master!”

A few days later, Mr. Tian came to my house again to do other repairs. Seeing the miraculous change in the marble slab, he was rather surprised. Mr. Tian has already understood the facts about Dafa, and benevolent Master once again let him witness the miraculous nature of Dafa.

After this incident, I looked within: The marble slab was cut slanted. This is definitely not an accident. Is it reminding me that I have deviated from my cultivation path? When I looked within, I discovered that I still had different attachments. The more serious ones are the attachment to complaint, hatred, lust, desire, vying with others, seeking comfort and favoring nice words from people. This alerted me. I am a Falun Dafa practitioner who has already cultivated for 26 years. Master really cherishes us, but I still have so many attachments. How can I attain the standards as required by the Fa? Thus, how can I return to my true heavenly home together with Master? Thinking of the time that I lost while in the CCP’s dark prison and the time that I wasted by not cultivating diligently after regaining my freedom, I felt deep remorse.

Just as I found my attachments and was determined to do well, I was at a loss at where to start improving myself. Suddenly Master’s two poems came to my mind, “It takes cultivating the mind, severing the desires, casting off attachments,” (“Who Dares Renounce Human Attachments,” Hong Yin) and “Washing away all wrong thought, Buddhahood, with less adversity, is wrought.” (“Nothing Kept,” Hong Yin).

Master’s Fa alerted me, and I had tears of gratitude. Thank you, Master, for your teachings. This increased my confidence and I clearly understood that I had no more excuses to not do well on my cultivation path. Therefore, I must do well in what Master has requested of us, fulfill my vows and not falter in my mission.
