(Minghui.org) Nine Kunming City, Yunnan Province, residents are scheduled to stand trial at the end of March 2025 for their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

The nine practitioners, including Ms. Li Huanzhen, 69; Ms. Zheng Cuilan, 78; Ms. Liu Cuixian, 73; Ms. Liu Xiaoping, 68; Ms. Ma Ling, 68; Ms. Zhang Xiuzhen, 66; Mr. Bi Sheng, 62; Ms. Yang Huifang, 57; and Ms. Zhu Yongzhen (age unknown), were arrested during a police sweep on June 6, 2024.

The Zongshuying Police Station, which was responsible for the arrests, submitted a joint case against the practitioners to the Xishan District Procuratorate. Despite the fact that the prosecutor returned the case to the police twice for insufficient evidence, the police refused to release the practitioners and submitted their case for a third time on January 10, 2025.

Prosecutor Zou Chengyun indicted the practitioners on February 8, 2025, and moved their case to the Xishan District Court. Judge Yang Hui has scheduled a hearing for the end of March 2025.
