Prior to Shen Yun’s performances in Stamford, Connecticut, March 7–9, the performing arts company received proclamations from two mayors.
Caroline Simmons, Mayor of Stamford, issued a proclamation proclaiming May 7, 2025, to be “Shen Yun Performing Arts Day.” (The Epoch Times)
Mayor Caroline Simmons of Stamford wrote in her proclamation, “NOW, THEREFORE, I, CAROLINE SIMMONS, Mayor of the City of Stamford, hereby proclaim May 7, 2025, to be SHEN YUN PERFORMING ARTS DAY in Stamford, in recognition of Shen Yun’s outstanding contribution to the arts and culture and encourage all residents to take part in this extraordinary cultural experience.”
David S. Cassetti, Mayor of Ansonia, also issued a proclamation proclaiming May 7, 2025, as “Shen Yun Day.” (The Epoch Times)
Mayor David S. Cassetti of Ansonia wrote in his proclamation, “We’re grateful to Shen Yun for providing a beautiful visual representation of China’s vibrant cultural heritage[.]”
In Catalonia, Spain, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has strengthened its interference with Shen Yun’s performances. Before the performances, staff from the Chinese consulate met with staff from the Sant Cugat city government to impose pressure. The CCP also sent three letters to the theater in Sant Cugat, demanding cancellation of the performances. However, the interference did not succeed. Both the local government and theater resisted the pressure and refused the unreasonable demands. Local politicians also attended the performances together.
Manuel Jesús Acosta Elías, a member of the Parliament of Catalonia, extended a proclamation to Shen Yun. He also presented the proclamation in person and saw the performance on March 6.

Manuel Jesús Acosta Elías said after the performance, “Shen Yun really makes people spiritually sublime and think deeply about the meaning of life... We have bodies and souls, but many times we just forget about God and forget that we are the children of the Creator, so we must love Him (the Creator), and loving Him also means starting with loving our neighbors.”
“The emergence of communism has broken the divine affiliation of mankind. Communists have shaped themselves into rulers who dominate all rules, and these rules are only for selfish purposes, only to command, rule and grab profits,” he said.
He also said he learned from the performance that “we all have our own mission. I truly believe it... People should value virtue, respect others, and do everything possible to help others. Even if such people have a bad life for various reasons, such as those who are persecuted for their beliefs, their lives will not stop there. Their lives will definitely be rewarded, and this reward is eternal life, that is, heaven.”
Georges Jacono and Danielle Jacono enjoyed Shen Yun at Le Corum in Montpellier, France on March 5, 2025. (NTD Television)
Georges Jacono, a young retiree from the French Navy, and Danielle Jacono, a former history and geography teacher, saw Shen Yun in Montpellier on March 5.
“It was like being in a dream,” Mrs. Jacono said. “It was really magical with all the costume colors. It was vaporous, with this lightness; everything was well done.”
“I loved the fact that the dancers moved from the stage into the set. I thought it was fabulous!” she added.
But above all, the couple appreciated the values conveyed by Shen Yun: “A message of kindness, sharing and love,” said Mrs. Jacono.
Mr. Jacono enjoyed discovering, through “little vignettes from everyday life..., the good feelings that allow us to dominate people who want to dominate others, to impose by force.”
Mr. Jacono appreciated “this message of openness,” which he felt was interesting “in today’s world, which is guided more by personal interests and the quest for wealth,” and which “should perhaps be heard by many more, so that we can all live in harmony and respect one another.”
“We have a totally different message, with a totally different philosophy, which is theirs, which is their religion, and which we respect, which is also a little closer to ours,” he said. “We find ourselves in these values and in this message of a divine being towards whom we must all aspire to strive.”
For him, Shen Yun allows us to discover another China: “It’s great because without them, we wouldn’t know. Because the image we have of China is the image of recent China. And when we learn about China through documentaries or films, we think of ancient China, but we don’t see it in this light.”
Mr. Jacono appreciated the fact that these messages were conveyed through dance and classical Chinese music.
“It’s the best way to get people to understand that there’s something else out there and, above all, to have been able to keep it all going!” he said.
“We wish them every success for the future,” Mr. Jacono said.
Wladimir Golubchyk (NTD Television)
Vladimir Golubchyk, stage manager at the Theater Erfurt, saw Shen Yun in Leipzig on March 9.
“This is a magical performance where you can experience ancient Chinese culture in all its splendor, told at the highest level of dance. It is also technically wonderfully accompanied with flawless transitions from one scene to the next, with much lightness, color, and joy of living,” he said.
“The flow of life, water, joy, flowers – everything was there,” said the Ukrainian-born artist.
“I think the show is very cleverly conceived. Simply magical timing in the narrative, the collaboration, the live dance scenes, and the animations projected onto the backdrop. And I found it extraordinary that the dancers cooperated with what was happening. I’ve never experienced anything like that before. Yes, I can only admire it. I also learned a lot about timing today. Thank you very much for that,” he said.
Company CEO Lee McLean brought his family to Shen Yun’s matinee in Glasgow, United Kingdom, on March 2 to celebrate his mother’s 70th birthday.
“It was amazing, it was really amazing. I think the spirituality in the whole thing came through,” he said.
“I’m a musician myself, so I think the orchestra was really good, really emotional.
“It was a kind of visual spectacle, color-wise as well—it was fantastic. It was a nice family treat and just an unbelievable afternoon out. So, thoroughly recommend it,” Mr. McLean stated, reiterating that he thought the live orchestra was “absolutely brilliant” and “most impressive.”
Mr. McLean also enjoyed the solo performance by the erhu. “It’s really an emotional instrument. When you’re listening, it’s amazing, for two strings, how many different sounds and emotions and range you [can] get on what seems to be a really basic instrument. So, I think that was really impressive,” he said.
Commenting on the artists’ mission to showcase traditional Chinese culture and values as they existed for thousands of years before being tainted by atheistic communist ideology, Mr. McLean said it was amazing to see.
“Western media maybe doesn’t give China the greatest [portrayal] in the press, and I think it was really nice to see that ancient culture of 5,000 years. It’s beyond anything we have got in Britain,” he stated.
“So, I think to be able [to have] people come and appreciate that, and for it to be presented in that manner—it was a beautiful afternoon. This hopefully allows people to see beyond that kind of stereotypical Western media view. I thought [Shen Yun] was amazing. It was really emotional and really spiritually connected to everything,” he said.
Flor Solasz, an interior design firm owner, saw Shen Yun in Stamford, Connecticut, on March 8.
“It’s very soul-moving... It’s a spiritual show in many ways. It touches people. I came here with three friends, and everybody had something different that they experienced,” she said.
“This is like my third time, and it gets more beautiful all the time, and it’s just, it’s eye candy, and it’s very spiritually-moving. And just to see the discipline of these young people is just, it’s just mind-blowing,” Ms. Solasz said.
