(Minghui.org) A Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, resident serving time for practicing Falun Gong was emaciated and extremely weak. Her eyes were dull, and her mind was confused. Her daughter couldn’t believe what she saw at their family visit on March 19, 2025.
Ms. Luo Yi was arrested on May 24, 2023, and sentenced to two years on July 25, 2024. She was admitted to the Sichuan Province Women’s Prison on January 15, 2025.
The prison initially barred her family from visiting her with the excuse that she refused to renounce Falun Gong. On February 8, 2025, the family received a call from the prison, saying that Ms. Luo was on a hunger strike to protest the persecution and was in serious condition with very high blood pressure. The family went to the prison on February 10 and demanded to see her, but the prison authorities still turned them down.
Ms. Luo’s family appealed to the local procuratorate and provincial prison administration bureau, and the prison eventually allowed the family to visit her on March 19, 2025. Her daughter was shocked to see a totally different person in just two months after her prison admission. Ms. Luo was still calm and stable while held at a local detention center, but now she did not even remember the family visits they had at the detention center only a few months ago.
A prison guard said Ms. Luo’s systolic blood pressure was as high as 190 mmHg (when a normal range is 120 mmHg or lower). It is unclear whether they are rendering any medical attention to her.
