(Minghui.org) As Shen Yun continues to tour globally, some Chinese nationals residing outside of China have been able to catch a performance. They have voiced appreciation for Shen Yun’s ability to produce an artistic event that both revives the essence of traditional Chinese culture and inspires goodness in people.
“More Chinese People Need to Come!”
Mr. Li, a business owner who used to own multiple mines, saw Shen Yun in New York City on March 26.
“I had only heard that Shen Yun was good, but when I saw it myself, I thought it was astonishing. It presented the profundity that China has developed over the ages,” he said.
“Beautiful, extremely beautiful! Wonderful! This is a dance epic, epic in scale, and it condensed many folk stories. Very good!
“Shen Yun can bring out our folk stories so well. American friends next to me also understood it.
“I knew about [the persecution of Falun Gong] back in China. This is an inhumane thing. It is the most cruel thing that has ever happened in human history.
“I learned a lot [after seeing the performance]. Like the Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance promoted by Master Li Hongzhi... It allows the entire humankind to know what evil is, and to be kind and bring love to the human world.
“More Chinese people need to come! This is a treasure of humanity. Thank you very much!” he said.
“It Was Even Better Than I Imagined”
An Qiang, a recent Chinese immigrant, saw Shen Yun in New York on March 29.
“The performance was very grand. It was even better than I imagined. And drew far more upon elements of Chinese culture than I was expecting. And I think what really stood out was that it revealed the evil nature of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). I think that’s very important,” he said.
“You absolutely can’t see this type of performance in China. I didn’t see anything like this in China. Most of the performances are put on by the CCP, similar to the type of performance you’d see in North Korea. They completely obliterated any sense of humanity or individuality.
“I’m touched, I’m touched. Especially when I saw fellow Western audience members clapping during exciting moments in the show, I felt deeply inspired. It was wonderful. I felt very proud.
“The quality of the artistry was very high. You can tell just from the way the dancers move that it’s not something you learn in just a day or two. It must’ve taken a lot of training, and I’m sure they work very hard behind the scenes. Everyone’s movements and teamwork onstage were so perfect.
“I think people need faith. Most Chinese people are atheist under the brainwashing from the CCP. I think having no faith, no belief in god, that’s very scary, especially for an entire nation of people. Because without faith, people can do anything. They have no bottom line. When you do have faith, then you’ll have a bottom line deep in your heart. You’ll tell yourself I cannot do that. You’re not being limited by the law or external moral forces. It comes from your own heart.
“I myself am a member of the China Democracy Party. Our party members and I myself have been persecuted in China as well. Sometimes we feel that our voices are limited, but when I see Shen Yun sharing and spreading our sentiment against the CCP and letting everyone in the world know about it, I think that’s so important,” he said.
“The Most Pure and Natural Kindness”
Shen Yun New Era Company presented two performances to packed houses at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto, Canada, on April 5.
Mr. Li, an immigrant from China, saw Shen Yun in Toronto on the evening of April 5.
Regarding Shen Yun’s opening piece that depicts divine beings following the Lord Buddha down to Earth to build human civilization, he said, “Somehow, this brought back some memories, or it was as if some memories from the past were opened...That scene felt familiar, and the Lord Buddha seemed familiar when I saw him.”
“If I were one of them following the Lord Buddha at that time, even if in the last row, it would be my honor.
“Shen Yun made me think about why humans came to this earth. Although I don’t know the definite answer, one thing is certain: humans do not live just to live. I even have a feeling deep in my heart that people are here with a mission. Shen Yun is the divine’s revelation to people, the opportunity the divine gives people, to realize the truth.
“When a living being or a person shows pure kindness to others without any self-serving purpose, it will touch and influence others. I can feel this too well.” He said that this is also why Shen Yun can touch so many audience members worldwide.
He spoke about the song performed by the soprano, “The lyrics showed the most pure and natural kindness. It’s a feeling that’s hard to explain, and it makes people cry... When I was there, my tears just came out for no apparent reason. (The lyrics) can touch people’s hearts.”
Regarding Shen Yun’s final scene where the Creator returned to the human world to save lives at the time of crisis, he said, “It is very likely that the Maitreya Buddha (Messiah) that people refer to is the Lord Buddha seen in today’s performance. This is how I understand it myself.”
“A Very Good Form to Show Our Chinese Traditions”
Li Lei and his wife (NTD Television)
Recent immigrants Li Lei and his wife saw Shen Yun in Toronto on April 6.
Regarding Shen Yun’s using art to present Chinese civilization to the world, he said, “This is a very good form to show our Chinese traditions, Chinese art, and everything about China to the world, allowing the world to better understand China. This is something the CCP cannot do now.”
“When I was watching it, I felt from the bottom of my heart that my ethnic confidence was awakening. I had a sense of mission for our traditional Chinese culture, including our history.
“Because we are suppressed by the CCP now, we don’t even know that we have such wishes. Maybe if we come out to see the world and feel these programs, these wishes will be affected by these programs and then burst out from our hearts.
“I think no matter for us Chinese or people of other nations, Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are universal values. Because sincerity, kindness, and forbearance are what everyone should do, and they can be regarded as a life creed or faith. If we achieve this, I believe the world will be a better place,” he said.
“I Really Hope Shen Yun Can Perform in China”
Song Fengxue and his wife and daughter (NTD Television)
Recent immigrants Song Fengxue and his wife and daughter saw Shen Yun in Toronto on March 30.
“I knew about Shen Yun when I got over the CCP’s information censorship to browse overseas internet more than 10 years ago, but never had the chance to watch it. Today, I watched it for the first time. It showed the history, traditional culture, the multi-ethnicity in China, and the modern destruction in these two short hours. So this part was very inspiring to me and my family,” Mr. Song said.
His wife Ms. Cui said, “It is right to encourage people to be kind and tolerant from the bottom of their hearts. So I think this [performance] is very appealing.”
Mr. Song said, “Since the emergence of atheism, a very painful societal environment has been created for the entire world and China. The most basic kind of kindness in everyone’s heart has been completely trampled on, bringing disasters to the entire society, and these disasters still continue. I really hope that Shen Yun can perform in China someday, so that all my friends can go see it.”
“I hope to see this kind of sincere kindness on the land of China again, and I hope to see it soon,” he said.
“This Is the Truth”
New immigrant Mr. Wang saw Shen Yun in Toronto on March 30. He said that he regrets not ordering a ticket earlier as tickets were selling very fast.
He said he used to be a “Little Pink,” a term describing young Chinese ultra-nationalists who tend to support the CCP and are active on the Internet.
“What left me with the deepest impression was the dance about Falun Gong being persecuted,” he said. “I used to be a CCP fan in China. When I was in college, I even wanted to join the military. I was brainwashed to want to eliminate Japan and the United States. I found out that the world outside was completely different after I came abroad.”
He said that Shen Yun artists are doing very well. “This kind of reality needs to be known to everyone. This is the truth,” he said.
“Need to Be Preserved and Passed On”
Wang Mingyi, who immigrated from China two years ago, saw Shen Yun in Seattle, Washington, on April 3. He and his friends, which was a total of ten people, saw the performance together.
Mr. Wang said he was moved to tears by the piece depicting the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
“I didn’t understand it very well when I was in China. I was also brainwashed by the CCP for a long time,” Mr. Wang said. But after leaving China and learning about the practitioners for himself, “I really understood that Falun Gong is a good practice that teaches people to be good people.”
Mr. Wang said he saw in Shen Yun the kind side of China, the cultural side of China, and the classical legacy the millennia-old civilization had to offer.
“The kind cultural factors need to be preserved and passed on,” he said. “But the CCP is destroying this. It is very serious for the Chinese people. It wants to completely destroy China’s traditional culture and stimulate the evil of human nature. This is the most evil part of the CCP.”
He contrasted the three principles of Falun Gong with what the CCP seeks to accomplish and the communist regime’s atheist culture.
“We should all learn from the culture of Truth, Compassion, and Tolerance,” Mr. Wang said. He said he admired Shen Yun for inheriting and preserving the good parts of Chinese culture, and hoped more people could experience it, even one day in China.
