(Minghui.org) I saw several police officers waiting at my door when I got home on the afternoon of April 19, 2024. I opened the door, let them in, and invited them to sit down. I told them about my experience practicing Falun Gong. I told them, “Falun Gong has no organization and no secrets.”

While they were illegally searching my home, a young officer asked me, “You retired from the court system. Why were you never fired? Why aren’t you afraid?” I replied, “Why should I be afraid? I am just trying to be a good person. What’s there to fear?”

I was taken to the police station and detained there. That night, I clarified the truth to every officer I met. The next morning, I shouted, “Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!”

I was later taken to the city’s main police department. When I got out of the car, the police station chief pushed me violently, grabbed my collar, and raised his hand to slap me. I shouted, “Everyone, take pictures! He is about to hit me!” Only then did he let go. I was held in a separate room while they interrogated another practitioner. I kept shouting, “Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good! Stop persecuting Falun Gong!”

During the illegal interrogation, I said to the officer who wanted to hit me, “I am a woman in my sixties and was once a judge, but you still wanted to beat me. I can only imagine how you treat ordinary people. Who gave you the right to persecute us? Which law allows you to do this?” He remained silent. After that, no matter what he asked, I just responded, “I don’t belong here.” Finally, he asked if I had anything else to say. I said, “Falun Dafa is a righteous practice. It is about Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Anything that opposes these values is evil!”

Upon hearing this, a female officer got up from the interrogation table, walked over to me, and gave me a thumbs-up. She said, “You are truly fearless! Amazing! You are so brave and wise!” The officer interrogating me clutched his chest, looking like he had a headache and was short of breath. He whispered to the female officer, “Can I leave first?” He then turned to me and said, “You worked in the court system... I can’t interrogate you. That’s it for today.”

I was taken to a detention center on the afternoon of April 20, 2024. The first cell I was placed in was a temporary holding cell. When I entered, the inmate in charge asked about my family background. I said, “I haven’t committed any crime, so I have nothing to say to you.”

I refused to wear the prison uniform, take shifts, or do any assigned chores. Whenever I woke up in the middle of the night, I did the exercises. During the day, I sent forth righteous thoughts every hour. Other than eating and sleeping, I spent my time doing the exercises, reciting the Fa, and telling others the truth about Falun Gong.

The atmosphere in the cell was relatively calm, and the inmate in charge was kind. After getting her permission, I started talking to the other inmates one by one, explaining the truth and encouraging them to withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations. When it was time for me to leave the cell, everyone sat down, and I stood in front of them to tell them the facts about Falun Dafa. They applauded and praised me, “That was really well said! So well said!”

About a week later, I was transferred to another place. Before I left, the inmates gave me nine sausages, three eggs, and three packets of pickled vegetables. On the way, I told the police officers, “Even though I am in a difficult place, I will have a bright future because I am a good person. If I can awaken the kindness of the people around me and help them hold onto the goodness in their hearts, they will have a good future too. That means I have saved them. Good deeds bring rewards, and cause and effect are real.”

When I reached the second cell, I overheard a police officer in the hallway say, “I heard that a Falun Gong practitioner is here. Let me go take a look!” She stormed over to the door. I happened to be standing by the door, so I asked her, “Why are you acting so hostile?” Her fierce expression immediately disappeared, and she said, “Oh, it’s nothing, nothing. I just heard that someone was sick and came to check.”

She often came to the cell. One day, I asked her, “Why do you discriminate against Falun Gong?” The second time I saw her, I asked again, “Are you still going to discriminate against Falun Gong?” She said yes. I replied, “If you continue to do that, I will report it.” She said nothing.

She and two other officers later came by for a routine roll call. I told her, “Remember this: ‘Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.’ It will bring you peace and safety.” She immediately responded, “Okay.” After that, whenever she saw me, she greeted me warmly. Every police officer who had interacted with me smiled and nodded at me when they saw me.

When the court staff came to deliver the illegal trial notice, I told them, “Falun Gong improves health and well-being. Its principles are Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. By practicing Falun Gong, I follow these values to be a good person, improve my morals, and purify my heart. I have committed no crime. What crime is there to confess?”

The assistant judge asked me to sign a notice. I wanted to write “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” on it, but she quickly snatched the paper away and refused to let me write it. She said, “You are trying to promote Falun Gong even here!” So I asked her, “You admit that ‘Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance’ belong to Falun Gong. Then what does that say about the suppression of Falun Gong?”

After a while, she said, “You don’t have to practice Falun Gong to be a good person.” I replied, “But the standards are different. I strictly follow Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, even if it means being imprisoned, losing everything in this world, or even facing death. I will not lie. But someone who doesn’t practice Falun Gong wouldn’t be able to do that.”

The second time the assistant judge came to deliver the first-instance verdict, I again tried to write “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” on the receipt. The people with her strongly objected and raised their voices. A detention center officer heard the commotion and came in to ask what was going on. This time the assistant judge said, “It’s fine, it’s fine. Let her write it.”

This assistant judge later even found an opportunity to ask me about the Tiananmen Squaare self-immolation incident. I told her that it was a CCP-staged incident to frame Falun Gong. How evil that was!

I view the public security officers, prosecutors, and judges as people who need to be saved. My relationship with them is not one of persecuted and persecutors, but of saving and being saved. I never use the word “accuse.” I simply tell them the truth, treat them as friends, and discuss things rationally. As I spoke to them more, they gradually accepted the words “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” without feeling nervous or afraid.

One police officer initially wouldn’t even let me say that practicing Falun Gong improved my health. But later, she believed in the principle of karmic retribution, and even used it to educate detained inmates. Eventually, she found Falun Gong practitioners amazing, and repeatedly said, “I envy you! I envy you!” She admired how light and energetic I was, and how happy and cheerful I remained every day. In the end, she could openly listen to me talk about Falun Gong, and kept saying, “Everything you say is right. It’s all right.”

My lawyer told me, “I feel like the prosecutor and the judge care about you and don’t really want to sentence you, but there is some invisible force preventing them from releasing you.”

After I appealed, the second-instance court came to verify the case materials. They asked me if I admitted guilt and accepted the punishment. I firmly replied, “I have committed no crime. What crime is there to confess?” I tried to share the truth about Falun Gong and my experience in practicing it, but the judge stopped me. I said, “I am imprisoned because I practice Falun Gong and follow ‘Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.’ If you don’t allow me to mention Falun Gong or talk about ‘Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance’ then what else is there to say?” The judge had no response.

I said, “Falun Gong benefits society, the people, families, and individuals. It brings nothing but good.” I had said this at the Public Security Bureau, the Procuratorate, and the first-instance court, but none of them recorded it. It was finally included in the second-instance case file.
