Australia: Peaceful Protest in Front of Chinese Consulate in Perth Marks Anniversary of the April 25 Appeal

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners in western Australia held a peaceful protest in front of the Chinese Consulate in Perth on April 24, 2025 to commemorate the 26^th anniversary of the April 25 Appeal. They called on the world to jointly stop the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) brutal persecution of Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa).

Prior to this, on April 19, Falun Gong practitioners in Western Australia held an event at the Murray Street Mall in the center of Perth to tell people about the April 25 appeal and called on all sectors of society to help end the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong.

The CCP’s Information Censorship

Curtis went to the Falun Dafa booth and had a long talk with a Falun Gong practitioner. When he learned about the April 25 appeal he said, “In China, the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong is terrible. The CCP has done a lot of bad things, and because the information is severely suppressed, it’s difficult for people to know the truth. I’ve also heard about the CCP’s forced organ harvesting.

“This is really a fight between good and evil. No matter what ideology or political party you are, look at things objectively. This is actually a fight between good and evil. Which side do you choose to stand on? We maintain an objective stance on what is happening in the world and oppose those evil things.”

He pointed out that the CCP is the worst kind of despotism. This totalitarianism has caused high number of deaths, destruction and murder in the 20^th Century. The essence of communism is state control, and it just wants everyone to follow its ideology, no matter what. It will do whatever it takes to achieve this goal. That’s why it has state propaganda to control people.

“In school, I feel like we only learned one side of history, but not the other,” Curtis said. “History always has two sides. For example, we learned about the Nazi crimes and the holocaust, but we didn’t learn about the genocide that happened in China.” Curtis believes, “It’s important to do your own research, have critical thinking, look at things objectively, and look at both sides of history.”

“The truth is often stranger than fiction,” he added.

“Chinese cities look beautiful and clean, but you know… they don’t make their labor camps public.

“Many things in history are covered up by lies and propaganda, only to be revealed many years later and widely accepted as the truth.”

The Persecution Should Not Happen

Ben Peace signed the petition calling for an end to the persecution. He said he heard about the CCP’s persecution and the forced organ harvesting and saw Falun Gong practitioners’ peaceful protests in Perth. He said, “The CCP’s forced organ harvesting is horrible, horrifying, and unbelievable. They are simply crazy!”

When he learned about the April 25 appeal and the CCP’s framing the event to launch the persecution, he expressed his support for Falun Gong practitioners. He said, “I don’t think anyone should be persecuted for living the way they want or for living differently from others. Everyone has the right to protest. In Australia, no one is persecuted for peaceful protests.”
