Additional Persecution News from China – April 18, 2025 (10 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 18 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Lin Huiying Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Lin Huiying, in her 50s, was reported to the police while distributing Falun Gong materials on July 17, 2024. Several officers from Xiashan District Domestic Security Division, officers from the Dongxin Police Station, and Dongxin Sub-district Office personnel arrested her around 3 p.m. that afternoon and ransacked her home. She was sentenced to 3.5 years in March 2025 and has been admitted to the Guangdong Province Women’s Prison.

2. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Chi Enhong and His Wife Ms. Zhang Yuqing Arrested

Mr. Chi Enhong, 77, from Shenhe District was arrested for distributing Falun Gong materials by officers from Binhe Road Police Station around 3:00 p.m. on April 16, 2025. The officers drove Mr. Chi, in handcuffs, to his home and ransacked the place. They confiscated a laptop, a printer, and some Falun Gong books. His wife Ms. Zhang Yuqing, 75, was also arrested and taken to the police station.

Ms. Zhang failed the physical examination and was released at noon on April 17. Mr. Chi is being held in the Fangjialan Detention Center in Shenhe District.

3. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Guo Encai Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Guo Encai from Jidangou Village, Dafangshen Town, Dehui City, a county-level city in Changchun City, was arrested on February 28, 2023 and released on bail. He was arrested again in April 2023 and later sentenced to 2.5 years. He is now serving time in the Gongzhuling Prison.

4. [Junan County, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Yan Faces Indictment; Mr. Hou Shihua Released on Bail

Ms. Liu Yan was notified by the police around April 10, 2025 that they had submitted her case to the Procuratorate, and she is now awaiting indictment.

Mr. Hou Shihua was arrested on February 24, 2025. He was released from the Linyi City Detention Center on March 31, 2025.

5. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Wang Changzheng Held in Detention Center

Mr. Wang Changzheng was taken to Jinghe Lockup by Jinyinhu Police Station officers on April 1, 2025 for 15 days. Instead releasing him on April 16, the police transferred him to the Jinghe Detention Center.

6. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Du Yang Arrested by Out-of-Province Police

Mr. Du Yang, a native of Chengdu City, Sichuan Province who was working in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, was arrested by officers from Zibo City, Shandong Province, in April 2025. He is now held in Zibo City Detention Center.

Mr. Du’s mother, Ms. Li Mengjun, 74, is still serving a 3.5-year prison term at the Sichuan Province Women’s Prison for her shared faith in Falun Gong. She was previously given another 7.5-year term in 2010. She was released in September 2017, only to be arrested again in July 2023 and given a second prison term.

7. [Yuanjiang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Yang Yuzhen Arrested

Ms. Yang Yuzhen was followed by the police while distributing Falun Gong materials on April 1, 2025. She was arrested later that day in her rental home.

8. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Several Practitioners Arrested

Officers from the Yufengli Police Station broke into Ms. Chen Ying’s home on the afternoon of April 17, 2025, and arrested five practitioners who were studying Falun Gong books together.

Ms. Yu Shuyun, 61, from Haigang District, was arrested on the day while visiting another practitioner, Ms. Zhu Weihua. Ms. Yu was released hours later. It’s not clear whether Ms. Zhu was arrested.

9. [Beijing] Mr. Zhu Guangjun’s Home Ransacked

Mr. Zhu Guangjun’s home in Guojiawu Village, Shunyi District was ransacked by officers from Yang Town Police Station on April 11, 2025.

10. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Tong Shurong, 80, Released from Prison

Ms. Tong Shurong, 80, was sentenced to 2.5 years on October 17, 2023 for talking to middle school students about the health benefits of Falun Gong. She has been released from the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on April 16, 2025.
