(Minghui.org) Ms. Meng Xianfang, 63, from Dalian City, Liaoning Province, went into shock three times in one month while she was detained for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.

Ms. Meng was arrested around 2 p.m. on March 2, 2025, by officers from the Malanzi Police Station and the Shahekou District Police Department. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, informational materials, and “Fu” decoration (meaning “good fortune” in Chinese).

Ms. Meng was taken to the Dalian City Detention Center (located in Ganjingzi District) after the raid. During the required physical examination, she was found to have kidney failure and a systolic blood pressure of 280 mmHg (the normal range is 120 mmHg or lower). The detention center forced her to take hypertension medications and admitted her.

Despite her health conditions, the guards forced her to do chores every day. Her health deteriorated and she went into shock three times in just one month.

The Shahekou District Police Department interrogated Ms. Meng twice at the detention center around mid-March 2025. The Shahekou District Procuratorate also came to verify the police interrogation records. They ordered her to renounce Falun Gong and threatened to put her in jail. Her family was told that her prison sentence may be reduced by one year if they paid 100,000 yuan.

Ms. Meng’s 70-year-old brother recently learned of her arrest and hired a lawyer to visit her at the detention center. He also called for her immediate release because she broke no in law in exercising her constitutional right to freedom of belief and pursuing good health. Ms. Meng took up Falun Gong in May 2010 and soon recovered from her decades-long colitis, gastritis, mastitis, breast lumps, and breast hyperplasia.
