Additional Persecution News from China – May 4, 2025 (8 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 18 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Lanxi City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Zhang Rong Detained
2. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Wang Yunxiao and Mr. Ran Xinglong Arrested
3. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhao Caixia and Ms. Zhao Caihong Arrested
4. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Qian Shuju and Ms. Cai Shangyu Detained
5. [Dujiangyan City, Sichuan Province] Four Practitioners Arrested
6. [Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province] Two Practitioners Arrested and One Harassed
7. [Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Huang Hezhi Detained
8. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Family of Three Arrested Together, Two Still Detained

1. [Lanxi City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Zhang Rong Detained

Ms. Zhang Rong was arrested in October 2024 for talking to people about Falun Gong. She has been detained in the Bailongqiao Detention Center since.

2. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Wang Yunxiao and Mr. Ran Xinglong Arrested

Ms. Wang Yunxiao of Wuhan and Mr. Ran Xinglong from Shanghai, who co-founded an education company, were arrested at their respective homes by officers from She County, Anhui Province, on April 23, 2025. Both practitioners were taken to She County and detained there.

3. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhao Caixia and Ms. Zhao Caihong Arrested

Ms. Zhao Caixia, in her 70s, and her sister Ms. Zhao Caihong, in her 60s, were arrested at the Harbin Railway Station on April 25, 2025, by officers from the Zhanqian Police Station. Their homes were ransacked. The police confiscated their Falun Gong books, photos of Falun Gong’s founder, and cash.

4. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Qian Shuju and Ms. Cai Shangyu Detained

Ms. Qian Shuju and Ms. Cai Shangyu, both in their 70s, were arrested for talking to people about Falun Gong in mid-April 2025. They are being held in the Jingyang District Detention Center.

5. [Dujiangyan City, Sichuan Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Four practitioners, including Mr. Chen Yushu, his mother Ms. Gao Yushuang, Ms. Zhang Jinxiu, and Xiao Zhangxin (gender unknown), were studying Falun Gong books together at Mr. Chen’s home on the afternoon of April 23, 2025, when officers from the Juyuan Town Police Station and local community staff members showed up.

The police confiscated Falun Gong books and informational materials. They also went to Ms. Zhang’s home and confiscated her Falun Gong books. The four practitioners were taken to the police station for interrogation. They were forced to sign statements to renounce Falun Gong before being released in the afternoon.

6. [Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province] Two Practitioners Arrested and One Harassed

Ms. Guan (first name unknown), in her 70s, and another practitioner who was visiting her were arrested by several officers from the Xiancheng Police Department on April 25, 2025. Their Falun Gong books were confiscated. They were released later that day.

Ms. Sun (first name unknown), around 80, was harassed at home on the same day. All of her Falun Gong informational materials were confiscated.

7. [Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Huang Hezhi Detained

Ms. Huang Hezhi was arrested in April 2025 and has been detained ever since.

8. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Family of Three Arrested Together, Two Still Detained

Ms. Du Likun, her husband Mr. Ma Yongxiao, and her mother Ms. Yang Fenglian were arrested at their shared residence around 11 p.m. on February 19, 2025. Ms. Du and Ms. Yang were taken to Handan City Third Detention Center and Mr. Ma was taken to Handan City Second Detention Center.

After their arrests, Ms. Yang’s ex-husband, Mr. Du Jiaxiang (who doesn’t practice Falun Gong) hired a lawyer to represent them. While Ms. Yang and Mr. Ma were denied visits with the lawyer, the lawyer was allowed to see Ms. Du.

When Ms. Yang was released on March 29, 2025, the police arrested Mr. Du in retaliation for hiring a lawyer. After he was denied admission to the detention center due to his physical condition, the police held him at the police hospital for 31 days and released him on April 30.

Ms. Du and Mr. Ma are still being detained. Mr. Ma has been transferred to a different detention center and his whereabouts aren’t clear.
