Additional Persecution News from China – May 8, 2024 (8 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 7 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 12 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Beijing] Practitioner Shi Lianghong Sentenced to Two and a Half Years in Prison
2. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
3. [Guangshui City, Hubei Province] Mr. Zhang Penghui Sentenced to Three Years and Four Months in Prison
4. [Mianchi County, Henan Province] Ms. Yang Qingyi and Ms. Ma Shufang Arrested
5. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Wang Huayu Arrested and Detained
6. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Zeng Harassed
7. [Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Gui Caihua Admitted to Prison
8. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Ms. Fan Yuemin and Ms. Chen Zhiying Arrested

1. [Beijing] Practitioner Shi Lianghong Sentenced to Two and a Half Years in Prison

Practitioner Shi Lianghong was sentenced to two and a half years in prison and has been admitted to prison.

2. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Wang Xiaoyun, 63; Ms. Wang Xiaofeng, 69; and Ms. Wang Erjie, 72, were arrested by officers from the Guangming Police Station on the morning of April 30, 2025, while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong.

Ms. Wang Xiaofeng and Ms. Wang Erjie were released later that day due to their health. Ms. Wang Xiaoyun was held in the Fushun City Detention Center for ten days.

3. [Guangshui City, Hubei Province] Mr. Zhang Penghui Sentenced to Three Years and Four Months in Prison

Mr. Zhang Penghui was sentenced to three years and four months in prison. He has appealed the verdict.

4. [Mianchi County, Henan Province] Ms. Yang Qingyi and Ms. Ma Shufang Arrested

Ms. Yang Qingyi was arrested on April 1, 2025. Her home was ransacked. She was placed on criminal detention and later released on bail due to her health.

Ms. Ma Shufang was arrested on the same day. Her home was also ransacked. She was given 13 days of administrative detention.

5. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Wang Huayu Arrested and Detained

Ms. Wang Huayu was arrested on April 22, 2025, after surveillance cameras recorded her distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked and a Falun Gong book was confiscated. She was taken to the Pi County Detention Center.

6. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Zeng Harassed

Mr. Zeng has been harassed at home by officers from the Qixian Police Station in Jintang County several times. The officers confiscated two Falun Gong books at his home and took him to the county procuratorate for questioning. He was forced to sign statements to renounce Falun Gong against his will before he was allowed to go home.

7. [Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Gui Caihua Admitted to Prison

Ms. Gui Caihua was sentenced to three and a half years in prison in December 2024. She has been admitted to the Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison.

8. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Ms. Fan Yuemin and Ms. Chen Zhiying Arrested

Ms. Fan Yuemin and Ms. Chen Zhiying were arrested by officers from the Kangfu Street Police Station in Hengshui City and officers from Jinan City, Shandong Province, on April 25, 2025. The women were taken the Jinan City Third Lockup for detention. It’s not clear why the police in Jinan were involved.

Ms. Fan was taken back to Hengshi City on May 5, 2025, and interrogated at the Kangfu Street Police Station. The police claimed that they confiscated pieces of equipment she used to print Falun Gong materials. She was admitted to the Shenzhou Detention Center that afternoon. It’s not clear whether Ms. Chen remains detained in Jinan.
