[Celebrating World Falun Dafa Day] My Neighbors Are Blessed by Falun Dafa

(Minghui.org) I’m a 64-year-old farmer’s wife. I started practicing Falun Dafa in the spring of 1998. Thanks to our esteemed Master’s merciful protection, I have stayed firmly on the path of returning to my true self. I’d like to share some of my neighbors' stories.

“A Close Neighbor Is Better Than a Distant Relative”

Last spring, my neighbor fell off a haystack while chopping corn stalks and was bedridden. Every family’s cornfield had been planted, except this neighbor’s. I said to my husband, who is also a Falun Dafa practitioner, “When you have some time, would you please do our neighbor a favor and plant his corn? He is an impatient person. If he could do it himself, he would have long ago. As the saying goes, 'A close neighbor is better than a distant relative.' Their field is not far from us. Can we just sit here and watch them miss getting their seeds in the ground? Master told us to be considerate of others in all circumstances.”

He agreed, “Sure, let’s follow Master’s teachings.”

Soon after, my husband started skipping his mid-day break and finished sowing the seeds in our neighbor’s cornfield. Before he left, he told our neighbor, “Brother, just give me a yell if you need help with anything.” The neighbor was happy and grateful.

On the eve of the Duanwu Festival (also known as the Dragon Boat Festival), the neighbor’s wife brought us a half bushel of eggs as a token of appreciation. I politely declined, saying, “Sister, we are neighbors. It is our responsibility to help you as much as we can.”

She insisted that I keep the eggs and began to leave. I told myself, “I’m a practitioner, I should not accept the gift.” So I carried the eggs and walked with her back to her house.

I would not have been able to do this in the past. It is Dafa that has rectified my heart, so I no longer seek anything in return. My neighbor’s family became convinced that Dafa practitioners are truly good people.

Lending a Helping Hand

We live in a remote area, and one of my neighbors lives as far from us as another village. My husband is in the renovation business. Last year, that neighbor built a new bathroom and asked my husband to waterproof the walls and tile the floor, which he completed in one day.

The neighbor wanted to pay my husband 400 yuan ($55 USD), but my husband declined, saying, “It wasn’t that much work. It’s on me.” While he wasn’t looking, the neighbor slipped the money into the pocket of my husband’s jacket, which was hanging up.

Three days later, that couple drove their tricycle to my house and told me, “We gave your husband 400 yuan and put it in his pocket. We figured neither of you knew. Just so you’re aware and don’t lose it.” After they left, I checked my husband’s jacket and saw the money.

I thought, “We are Dafa practitioners, we can’t value money more than our relationship with our neighbors. So I rode my bicycle and returned the money.

If this had happened before I practiced Dafa, I would not have been able to do this. I would have kept 40 yuan, let alone 400. It was Master who taught me to be considerate and help others.

When I Help My Neighbors, They Help Me

This year, as the Chinese New Year was approaching, I gathered some “Falun Dafa Is Good” truth-clarification posters and some good-luck pendants and thought, “I should share these items with all my neighbors. In these rough times, with all kinds of illnesses and natural disasters, I sincerely hope that they will be able to safely escape the calamities. Dafa practitioners are kindhearted and should pass on hope to their neighbors.”

One of our neighbors is 81 years old. When I visited him and gave him a pendant, he held it in his hands, saying, “I will hang the Dafa pendant up high.”

I witnessed how he changed from then on. Typically, all the villagers wash their clothes in the stream. In the winter, the steam ices up, and we have to put in a lot of effort to remove the ice before we can begin doing laundry.

I went to do laundry and saw this elderly man had already broken a large area of ice. He did this for others, as he doesn’t do laundry himself. I was happy for him. This is Dafa’s mighty power!

One neighbor’s entire family understands the truth about Dafa. The husband has commented that I’ve become a better person after practicing Falun Dafa. I have been giving them truth-clarification calendars, posters, couplets, and pendants. They cherish the gifts and display them above their front door.

Knowing the truth about Dafa has brought them blessings. Even though they are farmers, they are hardworking and live an affluent lifestyle. This time, I brought them another set of items. The wife was happy and thankful.

I once went to wash my clothes and saw the water was muddy, so I decided to return home. I walked back, carrying the basin in my hands, and ran into the wife. She was going to wash her mop. Embarrassed, she said, “I was just washing clothes here and made the water dirty. Let me take you upstream.”

I replied, “No, thanks. I’ll go by myself.” But she insisted on taking me.

As we walked up the slope, she fell and got up to continue. I said, “Sister, please go back. You’re almost 70, and this icy path is so difficult to walk on.” But she insisted on taking me there.

Because of the uneven ice on the path, she and I had to walk slowly, while bending our knees and hunching our backs. Under such difficult conditions, she walked with me to the upper stream and waited until I finished washing my clothes before returning home with me.

It was a small thing, but it warmed my heart. When there is no selfishness and everything people do is for the sake of others, what a pure and wonderful world it will be! I was genuinely considerate toward my neighbor’s family, and she was grateful and sincerely kind to me.

The Transformation of My Neighbors

Over the years, I have been explaining the facts about Falun Dafa to people, including my neighbors, telling them that Dafa teaches people to be good and that wonderful things happen to those who follow its principles.

My Eldest Brother-In-Law

All seven members of my eldest brother-in-law’s family have quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its youth organizations the Youth League and the Young Pioneers. And all of them know Falun Dafa is good. Every year, they put up the truth-clarification couplets and calendars we give them.

As the Chinese New Year approached and factories closed for the holidays, my brother-in-law’s son came back with his family to celebrate the holiday.

Between my house and my eldest brother-in-law’s house is a neighbor who has been living in the city during the winter months. Every time it snowed, my husband and I cleared the snow in front of her house.

It snowed on the night of the 27th day of the last lunar month. The next morning, after my husband and I had finished doing our Dafa exercises, we stepped out to sweep the snow and saw that the snow in front of our neighbor’s house had already been cleared by my eldest brother-in-law’s son. We were so happy to see this good deed!

My Nephew

Everyone in my nephew’s family has quit the Party. When the Chinese New Year approached, my husband and I gave my nephew a good-luck pendant. He was very happy to accept it. We shared with him, “One should not hold onto bias in their heart. If one does more good deeds, one will accumulate blessings, which will bring blessings to one’s children.”

It snowed a lot during the winter before last. My nephew didn’t clear the snow in front of his house, and it turned to ice. So my husband ended up shoveling the ice for them.

The snowfall was even heavier on another occasion. My husband and I cleared the snow from our entire street, as well as from the main road connected to it. While we were sweeping the snow, my nephew passed by on his tricycle, and said to us, “That was a lot of effort you put into this!”

This year, when it snowed after the Chinese New Year, my nephew not only cleared the snow in front of his own house, but also his neighbor’s. My husband and I were happy to see his transformation.

My Fourth Uncle

Another neighbor is a Christian. He quit the CCP a long time ago. Having witnessed the transformation in my husband and me after we began practicing Falun Dafa, he was always willing to accept the truth-clarification packets we gave him.

He once remarked, “Do you know why I put up the couplets you give me every year? It’s because of all the good deeds you’ve done. I still remember the time I carried a bag of cucumbers on the back seat of my bicycle to the market to sell. Inside the bag was 160 yuan in cash. The bag fell off not far from my home (1.5 miles), and I didn’t notice until I got to the market.

“Luckily, you picked it up. If someone else had found it and no one else was around, they probably would have kept it. Over the years, I have seen you paving the roads and clearing the snow. Whenever you and your husband saw I needed help with anything, you both volunteered. I witnessed with my own eyes that Dafa practitioners are good people!”

Our neighbors all get along well with one another. Every year, on the first day of the Chinese New Year, the neighbors pay their respects to each other, gathering together to enjoy candy and fruit. I noticed that, this year, every household displayed the Dafa truth-clarification posters, good-luck pendants, calendars, and couplets that we gave them. These are life-saving treasures!

Our neighbors are bathed in Buddha’s light. May the world come to know the truth, remember that “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,” and have a bright future.
