Additional Persecution News from China – May 17, 2025 (6 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 4 cities or counties in 3 provinces, where at least 11 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Tang Changjie, 69, Ms. Zeng Li’e, around 60, and Ms. Li, 60 and first name known, were all arrested on the morning of April 16, 2025. Their homes were ransacked.

2. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Liu Yingrong Detained in a Brainwashing Center

Ms. Liu Yingrong was arrested at home by nine officers from Xinzhou District Police Department and Xinchong Town Police Station on the morning of April 26, 2025. The officers seized more than ten Falun Gong books and a picture of the founder of Falun Gong from her home.

Ms. Liu was held in the police department for 24 hours, and then was put into Wuhan City First Lockup for five days. She was transferred to the Liuji Town Brainwashing Center on May 2, 2025 and has been held there since.

3. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhao Caixia and Ms. Zhao Caihong Detained

Two sisters, Ms. Zhao Caixia and Ms. Zhao Caihong, were awaiting a train in Harbin Railroad Station on April 25, 2025, when the police checked their IDs and arrested them. They were taken to the railroad police station and searched. Police snatched their keys and ransacked their homes. Their Falun Gong books, cash, and other items were confiscated. They were interrogated at the police station overnight.

Both sisters were taken to the Yaziquan Detention Center the next morning. While Ms. Zhao Caihong has been released on May 11, 2025, Ms. Zhao Caixia remains in detention.

4. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Xie Yueling Harassed

Ms. Xie Yueling was harassed at her son’s home by officer Zhang from Jinguanyi Police Station on April 17, 2025. The officer took her pictures against her will.

5. [Shanghai] Ms. Ying Yu Under Surveillance

Ms. Ying Yu was under police surveillance on April 22 – 27 and May 11 – 13, 2025, when plainclothes officers staked out her apartment building and monitored her.

6. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Hu Yuzhen, Ms. Liu Meili, and Ms. Li, first name unknown, were arrested by officers from the Qingshan District Domestic Security Division on the morning of April 1, 2025, for mailing letters regarding the persecution of Falun Gong. The officers confiscated Falun Gong materials from Ms. Li and released her. Ms. Hu and Ms. Liu were taken to the Ganghua Police Station and the Domestic Security Division for interrogation. They were released 10 hours later.
