(Minghui.org) A 69-year-old Xuyong County, Sichuan Province, resident who went missing two years ago has been sent to prison because she practices Falun Gong, Minghui.org recently learned. Details about Ms. Fu Qingming’s prosecution and prison sentence still aren’t clear.
Ms. Fu, a retired employee of the Xuyong County Cement Factory, has been repeatedly targeted in the past 26 years since the Chinese communist regime ordered the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999. She was sentenced to three years in 2012, had her pension suspended, and faced non-stop harassment. Unable to bear the pressure, her husband divorced her in 2021. She was forced to move out, only to be arrested again in 2023 and secretly sentenced.
Past Persecution
Ms. Fu was arrested in April 2004 and detained for a month. She was arrested again in April 2007 and detained for 25 days. The police ransacked her home and extorted 500 yuan from her daughter-in-law.
Ms. Fu went to the Taiping Town in May 2012 to talk to residents about Falun Gong. She was arrested by officers of the Xianglin Police Station. Feng Guangyong, Ma Yuliang and Luo Zhongping of the Xuyong County Domestic Security Division submitted her case to the procuratorate and she was sentenced to three years.
While serving time at the Sichuan Province Women’s Prison in Jianyang City, Ms. Fu was brutally tortured because she refused to renounce Falun Gong. After she was released, the Xuyong County Social Security Bureau forced her to return the pension she received during her prison term, totaling 60,000 yuan.
On the afternoon of November 4, 2015, officer Ma from the Xuyong County Domestic Security Division harassed Ms. Fu at home and interrogated her about the criminal complaint she filed against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese Communist Party who ordered the persecution of Falun Gong. Ma ordered her to report to the residential committee office on a regular basis and threatened to sentence her to five years.
The police and residential committee staffers harassed Ms. Fu again in July 2018, around the anniversary that marked the start of the persecution.
Ms. Fu and two practitioners, Ms. Wang Manqun and Ms. Zhang Yayun, were talking to people about Falun Gong at a local wetland park around 10 a.m. on March 13, 2020, when the police showed up and arrested them. While interrogating them at the police station, the officers refused to provide food to them, even though they all felt dizzy due to hunger. They were released around 3 p.m.
The police arrested Ms. Fu again in May 2020 and put her on house arrest. They also submitted her case to the procuratorate.
On May 22, 2020, Ms. Fu was taken to the police station for interrogation. The police chief He Chi said to her, “I’m not as nice as my colleagues, who released you in March due to your advanced age. I will take much tougher measures against you.”
The residential committee told Ms. Fu in July 2020 to report to the procuratorate. She refused to comply and she was taken to the Hejiang Detention Center on October 13, 2020 and detained for an unknown amount of time.
Ms. Fu was arrested on May 13, 2021, during a gathering of local practitioners to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day. They were interrogated at the Xicheng Police Station and released around 7 p.m.
Throughout 2021, the residential committee director kept harassing Ms. Fu in the “Zero Out” campaign. They threatened her and said that if she didn’t renounce Falun Gong, her pension would be suspended and her children wouldn’t be allowed to work. When Ms. Fu refused to talk to the community staffers, they harassed her husband instead. Unable to withstand the pressure, he divorced her.
