Additional Persecution News from China – May 27, 2025 (7 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 6 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 10 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Chengde City, Hebei Province] Ms. Chen Yanqiu Sentenced to Nine Years in Prison
2. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Yanmiao and Her Blind and Incapacitated Husband Mr. Wei Jiuxiang Arrested

7. [Longhua County, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Shuqin Arrested

1. [Chengde City, Hebei Province] Ms. Chen Yanqiu Sentenced to Nine Years in Prison

Ms. Chen Yanqiu from Gaoxin District was sentenced to nine years in late May 2025. Her family is preparing to appeal on her behalf.

2. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Yanmiao and Her Blind and Incapacitated Husband Mr. Wei Jiuxiang Arrested

Ms. Zhang Yanmiao from Maquan Village of Duozhuang Town, over 80, was arrested by officers from the Duozhuang Town Police Station on May 26, 2025. Her husband Mr. Wei Yongxiang, who has been blind and incapacitated for years, was arrested a few days earlier.

An insider said that the couple were each sentenced to four years by the Yinan County Court last year, but they were exempted from serving time due to their advanced age and physical condition. It’s not clear whether the authorities plan to send them to prison following their latest arrests.

3. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Guo Xiantang Tried in Court

Mr. Guo Xiantang was tried by the Lishan District Court in late May 2025. He testified in his own defense.

4. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Huanxia and Ms. Zhang Xiuping Harassed

Ms. Wang Huanxia and Ms. Zhang Xiuping, from Caozhang Village in the Development Zone, were harassed around May 13, 2025. The police raided their homes and confiscated photos of Falun Gong’s founder.

5. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Wang Zebin Faces Trial

The case against Mr. Wang Zebin was submitted to the Daowai District Court by the Daowei District Procuratorate on May 2, 2025. He is currently detained in the Xiangfang District Detention Center. The police collected a blood sample from Mr. Wang on May 16, 2025.

6. [Meihekou City, Jilin Province] Mr. Sun Harassed

Mr. Sun, a teacher (first name unknown), was harassed at home by two officers including Bi from the Xinhua Police Station around 5 p.m. on May 26, 2025. They forcefully took saliva samples from him and his wife Ms. Qiu. They claimed that this was part of a nationwide operation to collect Falun Gong practitioners’ DNA samples and establish a database. The officers took photos of the couple without their permission.

7. [Longhua County, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Shuqin Arrested

Ms. Li Shuqin, 82, was not at home when Yan Zhende, head of the Longhua County Domestic Security Division, and other officers showed up to harass her on the morning of May 13, 2025. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, flash drives, a small media player, printing paper, and copies of Minghui Weekly.

Yan and two officers returned on the morning of May 21, 2025. They confiscated another Falun Gong book and a small media player. Ms. Li was taken to the Anzhou Street Police Station for interrogation. She didn’t cooperate with the interrogation and refused to sign the transcript. She was released later that day.
