Calgary, Canada: Falun Gong Practitioners Hold a Rally Condemning Transnational Repression

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners rallied in front of the Chinese Consulate in Calgary, Canada on July 17, 2025, to condemn the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) transnational repression.

Many drivers honked their horns to show their support. A woman on a bicycle said, “God bless you!” to the practitioners.

Falun Dafa practitioners held a rally across the road from the Chinese Consulate, holding banners written in Chinese and English, “Falun Dafa is good,” “Stop the CCP’s transnational repression of Falun Gong,” “Stop the persecution of Falun Gong,” and “Stop murdering for organs.”

“Choose Kindness and Reject Evil”

Calgary Falun Dafa Association spokesperson Jeff Yang said that the CCP’s brutal persecution of Falun Gong has lasted for 26 years, since July 20, 1999. Safeguarding their belief, Falun Gong practitioners have been clarifying the truth to the people of the world and peacefully and rationally protesting the persecution for 26 years.

“For 26 years, millions of Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally arrested, detained, tortured, and even subjected to the CCP’s forced organ harvesting. A large number of Falun Gong practitioners have been forced to become homeless, unemployed, and drop out of school,” Mr. Yang said. “July 20, an extremely dark and heavy day, is a reminder to the world not to ignore the evils of tyranny and a call of conscience. The persecution must stop!”

He hopes that more people will learn more about the information that practitioners have conveyed through their great efforts, choose kindness, reject evil, and side with justice.

Always Protesting the Persecution Peacefully

In a statement from the Falun Dafa Association of Canada, practitioner Ms. Chen read that Falun Dafa practitioners have always protested the persecution peacefully and defended human rights around the world by speaking up, spreading information, establishing media outlets to raise awareness of the CCP’s persecution, and establishing the Shen Yun Performing Arts Company to promote traditional Chinese culture.

In contrast, the CCP’s transnational repression to cover up its crimes has intensified, with death threats, bomb threats, weaponizing Western judicial systems, and manipulating Western media with financial ties to the CCP to smear Falun Gong, she said.

“We commemorate the practitioners who died in the persecution. We pay tribute to the Falun Gong practitioners who are in prison! We call on everyone to think seriously and realize that the CCP is the biggest threat,” Ms. Chen said.

Condemning the CCP’s Escalated Transnational Repression

Practitioner Ms. Sun said that the CCP has systemactically escalated its persecution of Falun Gong since 2024. In addition to using artificial intelligence and other technological means to carry out large-scale arrests in China, transnational repression operations are also being escalated. This escalation is said to have originated from personal instructions by CCP leader Xi Jinping in October 2022.

In March and April of this year, Canadian theaters where Shen Yun performed received threats of violence.

“There have been a series of death threats, bomb threats, shooting threats, and arson threats since 2024. At the same time, the CCP has also used social media influencers and foreign media to smear Shen Yun Performing Arts. The Shen Yun website lists 158 incidents of harassment,” Ms. Sun said.

“Threats and other incidents are a reflection of the CCP’s inability, weakness, and evil nature,” she said.
