(Minghui.org) Practitioners in Taipei and nearby regions held a large-scale march on July 19, 2025, to tell people about the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which began in July 1999. In addition to Taipei, some practitioners from Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli also joined the event.

The recent screenings of State Organs, a documentary about the CCP’s forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners, helped numerous Taiwan residents learn about the persecution in China. Many people have become more supportive, and elected legislative officials also joined the march. When the march passed the busy Xinyi District, many people applauded practitioners while some people driving cars rolled down their windows and gave them a thumbs up.

The march consisted of four sections: “Benefits of Falun Dafa”, “Wrongful Persecution”, “Quitting the CCP”, and “Ending the Persecution”. Starting from Taipei City Hall Citizen Hall Square, the march passed Yixian Road, Songgao Road, Songren Road, Songshou Road, and Keelung Road before returning to city hall.

The march began at the Taipei City Hall Citizen Hall Square.

Practitioners carried numerous banners, and some were worded: “Support the Innocent and Stop the Suppression”, and “Only by Disintegrating the CCP Will the Persecution End.” Some practitioners carried photos of practitioners who were persecuted to death.

Taiwan People’s Party Legislator Chen Gau-tzu joined the march.

Marching in the Rain

The wind was strong and it rained during part of the march. Practitioner Cheng said, “The wind and rain were indeed forceful, and almost blew away the banners. But we persisted.”

Chu, a retiree from the news industry, watched the march as it passed Songren Road. He was impressed that practitioners remained calm despite the sudden rainstorm and said, “I’ve heard about the persecution of Falun Gong. Their diligence and determination in the rain are very impressive.” He added that the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are much needed in Taiwan.

Chang and his wife stood near a building to avoid the rain and said they were touched by practitioners’ perseverance. “The suppression has lasted 26 years. It’s amazing that practitioners are able to remain peaceful throughout these years,” he explained.

From his own experience, Chang knew the CCP would not tolerate a faith group that promotes traditional values. He hopes Taiwan residents cherish what they have. He also hopes more people pay attention to the tragedies in China.

Benefiting Society

Chen traveled from Chiayi to visit his father. He, his brother, and father watched as practitioners got ready to march. Chen said practitioners did the exercises at a park near his home, so he knew about the persecution in China.

Chen said he was glad that anyone could learn how to practice Falun Gong free of charge at the more than 800 practice sites in Taiwan. “The practice is great and deserves our respect,” he added. He also said practitioners’ peaceful efforts to expose the persecution for 26 years are consistent with the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. What practitioners have done will benefit society.

Artist Yang watched the march on Yixian Road next to Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, and she took many photos. She said practitioners were well organized and police cars were leading the way. “Everyone needs the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, not just in Taiwan,” she said. “If all of us could achieve that, our today will be better than yesterday, and our tomorrow will be better than today.”

Yang said she’s witnessed how people became kind and compassionate after they practiced Falun Gong, “So, there’s no reason not to support such a practice.”

Fu read a flyer a practitioner gave him while he watched the march. He heard about the persecution and said it’s important for practitioners to raise awareness this way. “The principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance will make our society more peaceful and make our world a better place,” he explained.

Chen, a sales representative working at a department store, watched the march with her coworkers. She heard about the human rights abuse against Falun Gong practitioners. “I like the event – very peaceful and rational,” she said. “We respect freedom of belief here in Taiwan and I hope the nightmare in China will end soon.”

Ou, from Hong Kong, moved to Taiwan six months ago. While waiting for a bus, he saw the march and talked with a practitioner. He said he previously heard about the persecution and forced organ harvesting, which targets Falun Gong practitioners. He said the march was important because it helped more people, especially young people, to learn what is going on.

Support from Family Members

Yue, a college student from Vietnam, was videotaping the march using her cell phone. Her mother began practicing Falun Gong six months ago and participated in the march. She explained that her mother heard about Falun Gong on the Internet and decided to practice.

Yue and other family members noticed positive changes in her mother – she was happier and her bad temper was gone. “My entire family is very supportive. My grandmother and her friends have also begun practicing. My grandmother is here too,” she said.

The persecution has lasted 26 years, and practitioners have been opposing the human rights abuses all these years. The tragedies will come to an end as more and more people learn the facts about the suppression.
