Falun Gong Practitioners in Southern Taiwan Hold Events to Expose 26 Years of Persecution by the CCP

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners in Kaohsiung and Pingtung in southern Taiwan held candlelight vigils in Pingtung Millennium Park on July 13, 2025, and in Fengshan Caogongzhen Waterfront Park Square on July 19 to commemorate the practitioners in China who lost their lives due to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution. Despite the storm, practitioners held candles and called for justice and conscience.

A number of city council members came to express their support. Taiwanese legislator Chiu Yi-ying said at the event in Kaohsiung that Falun Gong’s peacefully exposing the persecution has a far-reaching impact, allowing the world to see clearly the intentions and true nature of the CCP. She also expressed the highest respect for Falun Gong practitioners around the world.

During the events, practitioners did the exercises, held a photo exhibit, screened a video, and held a candlelight vigil. A number of dignitaries came to show their solidarity and support and condemned the CCP’s forced organ harvesting atrocities.

Practitioners in Kaohsiung and Pingdong demonstrated the exercises and held a photo exhibition on July 13 and 19.

Legislator: Falun Gong’s peaceful and rational efforts have a far-reaching impact

Kaohsiung Legislator Chiu Yi-ying said, “Since July 20, 1999, when the Chinese Communist Party started an all-out suppression of Falun Gong, it has lasted for 26 years. The CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong has never stopped. The documentary film State Organs has been screened around the world, allowing everyone to once again face up to the brutal fact of the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong and forced organ harvesting of practitioners.”

She said, “For a long time, Falun Gong practitioners around the world have been resisting the CCP’s repression in a rational and peaceful manner, and I deeply admire the tenacity and perseverance they have shown. Their efforts to counter the persecution have had a far-reaching impact. It also made the world see clearly the CCP’s evil attempt to infiltrate and undermine world peace.”

Chiu Yi-ying said that Falun Gong practitioners are in a difficult situation: “Breaking through all kinds of restrictions so that the spiritual principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance can spread all over the world, so that we improve ourselves physically, mentally, and spiritually. And all this is due to Falun Gong practitioners’ persistence in their faith and their insistence on peace and beauty. Therefore, I would like to express my highest respect to Falun Gong practitioners around the world.”

Legislator: The CCP must be dismantled before China and the world can get better

Kaohsiung Legislator Hsu Chih-Chieh, who is committed to the “Prevent Live Organ Harvesting” legislation, said, “Falun Gong practitioners have endured such persecution just by simply practicing their exercises. Over the past 26 years, they have always adhered to peacefulness and rationality in countering the persecution. Therefore, we must support Falun Gong in upholding justice; promoting the spirit of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance; and putting an end to the CCP’s atrocity of forced organ harvesting.”

Hsu Chih-Chieh observed, “The CCP’s forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners is really an unforgivable crime, and the whole world condemns it. Therefore, I continue to promote the Prevent Live Organ Harvesting bill in the Legislative Yuan, hoping to pass legislation along with other countries around the world to jointly uphold human rights and beliefs and stop the persecution.

“The evil nature of the CCP will never change, and as long as the CCP exists, its totalitarian dictatorship will harm [those who pracice] Falun Gong and others. For the sake of Falun Gong, for all Chinese people, and so that the whole world will no longer be persecuted by authoritarian totalitarianism, the CCP must be dismantled. Only then will China and the world get better and better.”

Pingtung Legislator Chung Chia-pin Service Office Commissioner Hsiao Hui-chun said that she was deeply touched after learning about the persecution of Falun Gong. She also felt sad for the practitioners who were persecuted to death, and hoped that such a thing never happens again.

Kaohsiung City Councilor: The disintegration of the CCP is the greatest guarantee for world peace

Kaohsiung City Councilor Lin Chih-hung reflected on the excellent character and kindness of Falun Gong practitioners: “Falun Gong has gathered many well-known people from all walks of life, as well as social backbones, who originally only pursued the belief in truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance, but unintentionally suffered extreme persecution by the CCP. This cannot be tolerated.”

“Falun Gong practitioners have suffered a lot of injustice in countering persecution, but they single-handedly continue to promote Dafa around the world and raise awareness. We must gather the strength of more friends in the world to stand with Falun Gong practitioners and jointly stop the CCP’s evil deeds,” he said.

Lin Chih-hung said, “Protecting human rights is a universal value, but the CCP never treats people as human beings. Over the past few decades, it has continued to crack down on dissidents, persecuted religions, and persecuted Falun Gong in extremely inhumane ways. Such atrocities do not affect just a particular religion or ethnic group, but the whole world. The disintegration of the CCP is the greatest guarantee for world peace.”

Wang Hsin-yu, secretary of Kaohsiung City Councilor Chen Li-na’s office, said, “I support Falun Gong, which is not just an ordinary practice, but also a spiritual belief. When we feel low or are not satisfied, if we silently recite ‘Falun Dafa is good’ in our hearts, or calm down and meditate, it will enter our lives bit by bit.

“But the CCP has been suppressing Falun Gong for many years and even harvesting the organs of practitioners when they are still alive. Now, with the movie State Organs and via social media, I believe that everyone will pay more attention to Falun Gong and human rights.”

She called on everyone to stand up for justice and support practitioners’ efforts to expose the persecution. She also hopes the CCP will stop persecuting Falun Gong.

Jiang Ren-quan, director of the office of Pingtung County Councillor Chiang Yue-hui, said that, in the early years of Falun Gong’s introduction in China, he witnessed the high quality of Falun Gong practitioners and how many people practiced. He feels this made the CCP authorities tense, because they were afraid the power of the people would become greater than politics, so they sent people to monitor and persecute practitioners.

“Falun Gong is the group I admire the most, because everyone is very high quality. They are very self-disciplined, and self-demanding. Wherever there is Falun Gong in Taiwanese society, it is very harmonious.”

Pingtung County Councilor Cheng Qing-yuan’s special assistant Hsie Hui-qin said that after 26 years of persecution and even having their organs harvested, Falun Gong practitioners in China have not been intimidated and still have firm faith: “Standing here today to commemorate these people who have been persecuted to death, we feel the same way. May we pray for world peace—peace and health for all.”

Hope That Falun Gong Spreads the Power of Kindness to All Corners of the World

After Mr. Huang, who is in the tourism and transportation industry, saw the rally and learned about the persecution, he said, “The communist system will eventually perish. Everyone says that this year there’s a great change in the Communist Party of China. I hope the Chinese people will henceforth be freed from the CCP’s totalitarian rule.

“Because the CCP suppresses good people who practice Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and harvests the organs of Falun Gong practitioners when they are still alive, it is extremely evil, and heaven will not tolerate it! As the saying goes, ‘evil never prevails over good.’ I hope that one day the CCP will disintegrate, the world will usher in real peace, and Falun Gong will continue to be carried forward so that this force of kindness be promoted to all corners of the world.”

Mr. Zhang, a passerby, stopped to watch the truth-clarification film. He said, “Falun Gong teaches people to be good, that they must have good thoughts in their hearts, which is a decent and good practice. The CCP is atheistic and is neither democratic or humane. It is precisely because it is difficult for the ‘goodness’ of Falun Gong and the ‘evil’ of the CCP to coexist. Those who follow the CCP in persecuting Falun Gong are its accomplices.”

Mr. Zhang said, “Everyone should think about it—there is no need to be an accomplice to the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong.”
