(Minghui.org) Ms. Yang Xiulan, 66, from Beijing was sentenced to one and a half years for practicing Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned recently.
Ms. Yang, a retired employee of the Kangzhuang Town 251 Factory, was arrested at home in a police sweep on September 23, 2024. She was held at the Caozhuang Village Detention Center in Changping District. At least 13 other local Falun Gong practitioners were also arrested that day, but Ms. Yang was the only practitioner who was known to have been sentenced so far. Details about her prosecution aren’t clear.
Prior to her latest sentencing, Ms. Yang has been repeatedly targeted in the past 26 years for upholding her faith, after the Chinese Communist Party ordered the persecution in 1999.
Ms. Yang was arrested on July 11, 2005. Her laptop and two printers were confiscated.
While visiting a friend on March 7, 2013, Ms. Yang was arrested again and held at the Lugouqiao Detention Center for nearly a month until April 3. Her home was also ransacked.
Her next arrest was on May 5, 2016 when she visited another Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Liu Jinrong. She was released that day. She was arrested again two months later on July 16, 2016 and held at the Changping District Detention Center for a month. She was released on August 15, 2016.
Officer Liang Lijun of the Kangzhuang Town Police Station harassed Ms. Yang on March 17, 2020 and ordered her to submit a photo of herself. Liang threatened to come back to “visit” her on a regular basis.
